HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE!
The solstice is on Wednesday.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week. There's a white-tailed deer fawn like this one on my patch. Her mother takes her across to the creek for a drink of water every day at dawn.

HEATHER - no, just various shades of ageing grey and yellowish (Cotswold, I guess) - and a few red ones - depending on original sources and where we have had them. Most recently. OH has tried to make patterns. Deck now has some of its sub-frame as well as half the posts cemented in the ground.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
HARELADY How very, very sad for you and all her family and friends. Words cannot express......... Thoughts are with you.
Now very tired.
We had coffee in the garden with our friends (with laundry drying nearby as I darnt risk waiting till later, in case of rain). Then we bolted down our lunch. Then we left to go to see sis-in-law for half an hour, on our way to fetch the car, more of that later. Then a hot journey followed by fifteen minutes in the garage office, then another hot drive back, in two cars. My OH changed route on the way home, as there were notices up on gantries saying that the motorway was almost at a standstill. "Delays and queues of over 1 & a half hours !!!"
Finally reached home, freshened up, then got back into car to get grub from supermarket. After that, had to run and save both laundry and garden chairs from enormous stormy raindrops, suddenly coming down. Had another cuppa after that!
The car is a mystery: the poor garage mechanic spent hours on it but still couldn't sort it out entirely. "The warning light still comes on when you switch on the ignition" he said, quite upset about it. Later, as I drove it home, the warning light went out of its own accord........
We've had more raindrops since, but no real rain which would refresh the gardens.
I've been trying to pack for tomorrow in between rushing around, but not done as much as I'd like. I'll have to get up extra early tomorrow to get it done.
We have some relatives who've moved house over the last two, very hot days. They must be weary!
Harelady no words can convey how I feel...
Super day out with friend Lochindorb/Logie Steading/Findhorn and back to Logie for an ice cream. Pub lunch starter in the sun tide way out and eerie seal calls.
Home to " beach hut" with second coat. Rain stopped play so maybe finished tomorrow .
Organising cottage as both my girlies fly up a week Saturday for family trip to Saddell on the Mull of Kintyre which includes Daisy dog.
What's a paving stone we have gravel it's a vast expanse but Daisy hates them apart from when I throw a large carrot ( her version of an E number fuelled bone) across to the lawn :-))
Harelady – I wasn’t expecting this sad news. Deepest sympathy to you and your family. My thoughts & prayers for you.
.
Annette – Farmers are starting to worry as our winter rain should start in May. Media is boasting of lowest rainfall for x years.
Linda, Annette – We had poached eggs on toast (2 for him, 1 for me). Crusty roll is in freezer for Friday when I shall revive it in toaster oven. Today I am escaping with Chauffeur Friend – she has borrowed key to her local church for me to capture stained glass and we plan a long chat over coffee. (Of course, that’s different to long chats on the phone.) As for OH, if he is home today he can open a can of soup. No homemade soup remains after family visit Sunday. I picked up a meaty ham bone from greengrocer/deli and soup will happen when I get time.
OG – Gorgeous little backpacker. Min, that is LOL
Nanny duty was fine for first half, chaotic last hour. MissL was asleep when I arrived. While Dau on school run, MissJ & I read books, snuggled on lounge and she napped! I extricated myself to find a few chores. Later while I entertained twins, Dau prepared tea, dog wee-ed on floor, only discovered when MissJ stepped in it, find more socks, then she stepped in another puddle, more socks, eat your tea, lovely broccoli/carrots/peas/sausage, don’t wave fork (metal) or you’ll go back to a baby one, shoes on, jackets on, Dau locks up, I strap twins in carseats, Dau about to rush off to parenting course, kids in creche, goodbye. Oops, as she opens garage door, dog escapes to smirk from across street, Dau unlocks house to find dog biccie packet, noise entices him home, I escape, and I hope Dau made it to class & creche on time. PS Last parenting class, so future Wednesdays should be normal.
Evening all: Spent all day doing laundry and cleaning the house, except when I finally got around to the cook top, I noticed it was shiny clean - thanks to my granddaughter, who apparently did it when I was in the shower the other evening.
OG; Miriam is truly gorgeous - what a sweetheart and such a happy little kiddie. And your grandson is a good looking kid. He must've got a big thrill out of his first Fathers Day. :-)
Thanks all for news; am too tired to respond I'm afraid. Hope OZ gets rain and the UK cools down!
Have been thinking of Harelady on and off all day....
Good Morning All.
Dashing off today, so no time for chat, except to say what super pics from OG, of her lovely grandson and the smiley Miriam.
Thinking of Harelady in these dark days for her and the family.
Good morning. We announced last month that we were taking a break from the church newsletter as July is a quiet month, so this morning we have been busy drafting a single “Newssheet”. We have some other church communication tasks to do in the next few weeks.
There was no more rain here yesterday and a dry hot night – apparently no rain until tomorrow, but decking man hasn’t shown up yet this morning. I am informed by Dau#1 that GrandDau#2 could be seen in the segment about Kynren (Bishop Auckland History pageant) on The One Show last evening – we couldn’t pick her out! She enjoyed being part of it last year and was determined she would do it again this time.
I took another step forward today: managed to have a real shower standing up – just sat to wash my hair. I feel much more comfortable! I am lucky that I have a really good sense of balance (there are rails in the wetroom to grab if necessary and OH did hover to help if needed).
Replies will follow – got to have early lunch as OH has to take car for a fix – the VW engine emissions saga from two years ago! (Not a VW, but engine was made by them).

Back again. Remembering HARELADY and family.
LINDA - pleased you got the car back - strange about the warning light. I hope it will behave while you are away - is this a trip to Wales for the weekend - I see you have been packing! Have a good time!
WENDY - lucky you, going to Logie Steading, one of my favourite places to have lunch and spend an afternoon. Maybe next year ... Nice that you are going to Kintyre with both your girls and Daisy.
AQ - good for you, getting a church photography trip with friend - enjoy. I am sure you and Daughter will be glad to get back to "normal" Wednesdays, whatever they are!
ANNETTE - GrandDaughter-in-law says that Miriam enjoyed the "walk" in the backpack so much that she "sang" all the way! She seems a very smiley baby.
OH has gone with the car, and I have a few easy (and safe) things I need to do. Going for blood tests tomorrow as I want them done here and recorded on the computer so rheumatology don't insist on digging for veins next week at my Thursday appointment (also got xray and orthopaedic progress appointment on Monday). When I was in local hospital, doctor ordered blood tests and nobody could find a vein. I said, "if Dr G wants blood, tell him to come and get it" and after the fourth attempt (by the sister in charge), they had to send for him!
I just looked at him and laughed when he came to do it - but he did get it. No wonder I was so covered with bruises after they had to stabilise me when I was out with that infection in February!
