Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 4 June 2017

NEW CHAT THREAD

This is the new thread for the week. I am watching the news of the terror attacks in London. I don't think it's appropriate to post my usual wishes for a happy new week along with a cheerful photo. I will simply say that my thoughts are with all of my dear friends in the U.K. I hope you all stay safe.

  • LINDY - no relationship to Scotland's worst poet!

    OG- :-)

DIBNLIB- Sorry that you are still having dental problems.

Just seen the News about Helmand province. No words from me, but memories of lives lost.

Have been scanning the radio programmes for tonight, just can't face a whole night of politics etc. Of course, it might bore me to sleep and that would be great!

  • OG - I've been rushed, all day. But I meant to say thanks to those of you who kindly worried about me :-)

I see I'm nudging others into  breaking into verse, LOL!! Well done!

Heather - I've certainly been very bored with all the repetitive election coverage. I do like to keep abreast of current affairs, but the constant picking over of every little detail has been mind numbing. I'm watching the "Vet" programme on Channel 4 at the moment and will be looking on my recording gadget for something after that! (Together with a small tot of something warming, as my OH goes out on Thursdays!)

  • Enjoy, LINDY!  I'm watching Rick Stein using loads and loads of dried oregano as he cooks Greek food. I have fresh oregano in the herb bed, maybe I should try drying it? I bought fresh dill and coriander today, obviously on a herb kick!

  • Hi OG - no not on crutches, just hobbling about with the boot on. Fracture clinic rang me and gave some advice about keeping it elevated and resting when one can but no need to come in unless I felt it necessary. Had a face resembling two black eyes but bruising is calming down, just tender on bridge of nose which took the full force but thankfully no breaks. Have bruising below my replacement knee which can be tender to touch but otherwise fine. They took an xray at the time and no breaks showed up only my big toe. So we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and be more careful next time - I hope, lol.

AQ - you certainly are earning your stripes with this nannying but who wouldn't for their children.   Glad the party was a hit with the little ones, at least it was different.

Like your ditty, Lindy and the pic.

HeatherB - its always fascinating where your family history leads.   I am a full member of Ancestry UK and have been able to trace family back to the 1600's and members of the Grierson family of Scotland (father's side). Keep finding allsorts out.

  • Lucky you PatO. Would love to visit but too far away. Never mind its always lovely when one of our members gets to LG or LOTL and reports back.

Same with us Lindy.  Breezy, showery, and leaves dropping everywhere.

OH has his car back, passed its MOT after all the work had been done on it.   Cost was more than he thought but at least its money and not him being injured because of the accident.

  • Pat – Lucky you. LOTL was my first sight of ospreys, then on to LG, oh dear, way back in 2008. I shall have to find my photos again.

    .

Linda – It’s not Big Brother who is watching you. It’s us, checking that you are OK.

    .

Heather – I thought chefs always promoted fresh herbs, not dried. I have a few basic ones in my garden, parsley, chives, garlic chives, thyme & oregano. I love the fresh smells in the herb section of my greengrocer.

    .

Not quite so chilly overnight, down to 6 C. Not much warmer yet (8.30 am). No rain alas predicted for next 7 days.

  • Evening all: Non-stop here again - crept off to bedroom with my book for an hour's respite before grandson arrived for dinner and more chat. Daughter leaves in the a.m. and I told OH it'll be take-out for dinner tomorrow!

Have read all the posts and news - and verse!  Stay well all.

  • Good Morning, All.  Or is it? --  Aargh!

  • LINDY    Definitely AARGH. The only good thing is that the SNP have had their noses rubbed in it!!!

Meant to say yesterday thank you to all our poets.

OH has been working hard on our rockery over the last few days. He has replaced many of the plants and it is looking good.

  • What a great day.

What an incredible feeling it is to know that our young people, our future, have stood up and had their voices counted & heard

Despite that hideously toxic and horrendously biased media, a politics of hope and love has won over fear.
