Thursday 18 May 2017 dawned a beautiful day at Loch Garten. Odin delivered a large fish to the nest. Everything seemed idyllic. Little we knew that within hours it would all turn to horror.
At 1.18pm Odin left the nest and has not been seen again. EJ valiantly stuck to brooding the chicks but inevitably was only a matter of time.
So Loch Garten's season is over already this year.
There is other news but nothing quite like this.
Do you want to record your thoughts on what happens now? Will EJ accept a new partner?

So many historical things coming up today.
Wednesday 14 April 2010 this picture was published in the Daily Mail. Instead of being pleased the fans were aghast that the old rogue might still be alive.
Then a certain well known person from Loch Garten pointed out it had to be a summer picture and there was nothing to worry about.
You will see that a certain Tiger makes a few comments below the picture.
Henry was the male osprey at Loch Garten from 2003 to 2007. Now Henry hated infidelity....not good if your partner is EJ.
Here is how Henry reacts when he finds her cheating again. See Henry kicks eggs
It is a rather confusing video as it is really about the second clutch that EJ laid.

He was a lovely looking bird, whatever the shortfalls in his behaviour.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

No that is just more Daily Mail nonsense. It would not be Loch Garten.
So much of what they print is nonsense. I'm staggered they have such a large readership.

Here were the comments at the time
For Catlady. Deshar's flight
and Patrick's poem for 2008 Deshar's Lament
Deshar probably recruited more osprey fans than any other osprey.
I don't know about that Tiger. I did look in occasionally on the 2008 season, but after what happened to Deshar it put me off, too soft hearted :-) so I didn't look at webcam or forum again.
That was until I visited Loch Garten in May 2011 and was well and truly hooked when I seen EJ in the feather, the rest is history.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
I joined in 2011 and I am glad that I did not see Deshar's fateful flight.
