There are several nests with healthy active bobbleheads which we will be watching with interest this summer. We expect a fine show of fledglings during late June & July, with many strong beautiful juvenile osprey migrating to their winter homes in Africa come August and September.
I do hope you will still find this a place to share any news of the osprey world that is of interest to you as well as other matters of interest. If anything pops up on Facebook I'll post it here.

It's heather time in Scotland and Keith has reminded me of my favorite song. I'll go select a version to play here for us. Be back later.
But today in the USA is ECLIPSE time. It has already started in the north west corner of the country and is moving closer to me. No visible signs yet. Total eclipse will move thru Kentucky, the state just across the Ohio River from me.
I will force myself to be careful not to look too close. I will take something white and a kitchen colander to my patio to see a reflection.
I is a cloudless day here. Slighty hazy, with a greyish blue sky. Hmm, hazy or start of eclipse.? Maybe I should start paying closer attention to TV reporting.

Total now in Carbondale, Illinois - 2 states west. Definitely shadowy, twilighty here.
So its all over for another few decades. I've highlighted a map with my location and the 2 nearest points of totality, Carbondale, Illinois and Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
After it passed through Hopkinsville light very quickly started returning to normal. It was never anywhere near dark here. A good rainstorm will make it much darker. However, the light/atmosphere did have a certain unusual quality to it. I had just watered the flowers and water drops on the patio floor seemed to have a sharper, more focused sparkle than usual.
The colander thing was useless. I saw nothing but holes. When light had returned to normal I tried again, just to test. I saw the same pattern, but to my surprise, it was now noticeably less clear and focused than it had been in the darker eclipse light.
BTW this is the second or third partial eclipse that I have witnessed. Probably you, too, have seen one or more partials. Maybe even a total.
So back to The Gabfest. Here is one good version of Go Lassie Go. I cannot stop at one, so more in good time. Add your own favorite if you want.
I remember seeing the 1999 eclipse. We abandoned desks, and went outside at work to experience it. It wasn't total in Cambridge, that was down in Cornwall, but I found it quite surreal. An eerie light, the birds went silent. Quite an experience.
