Bad weather may have deterred the birds from visiting the nest after the early-morning intrusions...
The first one, threatened only, EJ put up a spirited deterrence display, which worked temporarily:
^^^ My snap, cropped off the screen capture.
EJ stayed on the nest for a while looking forlorn, I thought, even from the back:
^^^ Moffer's VLC.
Then the unringed male managed to land but didn't stay long - that was almost the last we saw of ospreys for the day, but BIRDIE spotted UR pop in for a few moments only at 0810hr... somewhat charmless in comparison to our familiar, much-loved male resident :'(
.
The happiest image of the day, per Moffer:
We await developments with, for me, not a little dread tinged with faint hope.

Good morning all. Thank you Scylla for your stirling work. Great reports, pics and vids.
EJ had just flown when I switched on this morning (8.45) and has not returned. No other Ospreys seen, and even the Crows are quiet. Nothing to report :o(
Lol Stevie.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
That was quite a reaction by EJ captured by Scylla wasn't it? I wonder who caused it?
Morning all, Les Carr here. I spent last week at the osprey centre ( my 65th and worst ever week at Loch Garten ) Watching the chicks dying and not being able to do anything about it was so hard, but I am still 100% behind Jess and the team and the decision they made. On a lighter note the redstart that is flitting about on the nest is actually nesting in the osprey nest ( underneath ) we have the big binoculars in the forward hide and can see all round the nest, but the webcam doesn't show that.

Hi Les. It must have been so hard to be at LG that week.
Thanks for the info regarding the Redstart. Pretty little things. Lets hope that the Pine Marten has moved out for the summer.
Just heard the Cuckoo. Willow Warbler has been singing. Still no Ospreys.
Hello Les. Well, at least a bit of good news regarding the redstart. It must have been awful for you at LG last week.
ENS Still :o((

Good afternoon, LES, it's nice to hear from a regular at the "front". We had been very worried about the Pine Marten threat to our ospreys, but it turned out to be other ospreys who caused the tragedy.
The busy Redstart has provided a little light relief from our anxieties and grief.
Buzzard?
Then cuckoo.

Yes Les it it must have been a very difficult week but like you I agree that Jess and the team made the right decision.
There was never any real possibility of rescuing those chicks.
I dare say you been around when many previous crises have taken place. They are never easy.
