Well as predicted it all started on the 16th March with the arrival of LM12 at Loch of The Lowes. He was about nine days earlier than last year. There then started a rush of ospreys arriving. It looked as if they would all be back very quickly.
However it then all slowed down and for days there were very few ospreys returning. The clue was that the tracked female 30 (05) was making slow progress in France.
Anyway EJ and Odin are both now back. As are LM12 and LF15 at Loch of the Lowes.
Both the males White YA and Yellow 37 are back at Kielder. as is Mrs YA. The female at nest 3 is back there too.
Mrs G arrived on 22 March.
Blue 24 arrived at Dyfi on 24 March and 5F at Glaslyn on 29 March.
The Manton Bay pair if Maya and Blue 33 arrived early too.
So most of the big names are back and only a few left to arrive but they are not expected yet.
So a season to enjoy.

Here was the track that the bird took. See 13 November 2013
An interesting find Karen, especially sad that it was lost after spending 2 years at its wintering grounds.
I see the initial report that the wintering grounds were Guana, only Guana I know of is Guana Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Then it changes on Facebook, to Ghana, then there is another mention of Gambia, so I wonder which one is correct.
The plot certainly thickens!
I tried to enlarge the photo but it loses resolution the more it is blown up.

Sorry I must have forgot to post the final destination of the bird but it was Sierra Leone.
Maybe that was because I was so excited about solving the problem of stopping Facebook snapping back every time one enlarges a picture.
I have found your conversation , fascinating and (somewhat) informative, thank you and realise , I know nothing
There's a pair of birds just returned to their nest at Loch Rusky, which is south of Callander. I haven't been able to determine whether they are ringed. Although they live on a well-stocked loch, they apparently do their fishing at Mentieth. Assuming it's the same pair as last year, they raised three young birds, at least two of which I know fledged. twitter.com/search;src=typd
A report y'day on their FB page gave a correction:
Correction re last week – the osprey’s winter base is Gambia not Guana. Apologies.

Thank you for your report, Jamie. How wonderful to have a nest you can monitor regularly. I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say we look forward to further updates as the season progresses!!
I expect many are area of the polystyrene ospreys on nests in Poole harbour, it was reported on TV news. I came across this Guardian video with RD taking about the project in 2010. By the sound of it 2010 was the second year of the project, and they erected seven nests. He said he was convinced that in 10 years osprey would be nesting in Poole Harbour. 2020 isn't that far away!
I've been combing Chloe's data site but must need to go to spec savers. Just cannot find out who 5 F is . I think it was the female on the ''other '' nest at Glaslyn last year but not sure. In any case that doesn't give me her name and origin nest. Is anyone able to help me please
Cirrus. Details are on another site . 5F is a female born in 2012 at site K at Rutland. Parents are Red 08(05) and Yellow 30(05). She was ringed in July 2012.
Birdies LG DU update.
