The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Trying to grab all the soft bedding before the rest arrive.
A bright and breeze day at MB. Our pair as standing contentedly together
I was going to post a pic, but it isn't cooperating at the moment! It is stuck at 'loading'!

They have very easy access to soft bedding. On the other side of the water from the hide are a couple of fields. In one field is a herd of cows and they have hay in a feeding thingy (Can't think of the correct word!).

Me neither! Troughs are for water, aren't they? And we don't seem to use "manger" except at Christmas ;-) Never mind, thanks for the inside info, SANDRA :)

IF this is what you mean they are simply referred to as bale feeders.
Birdies LG DU update.
LOL ... yes, the nest is beginning to remind us of bale feeders.
Here is a link to today's blog .... Stuck on You (Vespa has already posted a link to it on the general ROP thread and good to read 30(05) has passed the Bay of Biscay)
Interesting to see that the intruder I captured yesterday morning (3 on the nest) was Blue 25(10). Hopefully she wont be around annoying Maya and 33(11) anymore as they mention her partner has now returned.
Good Morning All
One on the nest and no sunrise :-)
Love yesterdays blog, that first video of 33 with the stick and Maya looking at him was so funny.
