The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
The guard is back :-)

Don't think there is going to be a sunrise this morning :-(.... The Cormorant is there though in his/her usual stance!....
In the meantime thought this might make you smile.
I suppose it really should go in the Captions thread.
Looking comfortable and definitely sitting on an egg. Clear view as she moved.
Birdies LG DU update.
Morning all -
LOL Mary - very funny. I see you have started up the caption thread too - great idea.
Hopefully it wont be too long before we start seeing these lovely sunrises again.
Yes Mike, the EG is looking very comfy. So as I suspected, there is an egg!
Oh no! She has just got up and I think I can now see two eggs? I think it has laid another!
Let's hope that highly useful crow comes along again and helps Maya and Blue 33 out.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I did a video in the night when the cormorant woke up and had a little wander and little preen and went back to sleep. Too long, but just in case a lurker with a passion for cormorants at night pops in...

Love the captions, MARY :)
I had a scroll thru a couple of hours but couldn't see the eggs - probably went too fast.

No sign of the Cormorant or the EG..... hmmmm.....
There is a ladder up at the nest ?????
Thanks for the heads up Karen, just dipping in and out today, as things to do :-)
