Was thinking about how much Brenda posted on the DYFI thread, especially last season where she liked to post her captures of Monty, Glesni and family, so thought it would be nice to dedicate the first thread starting off the new season to Brenda.
She along with Margo will be sadly missed from this forum, it is so sad that we have to start off with the loss of not one but two valued members.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Karen - this is from the blog by Emyr.
We’ll take it down sometime in March before the ospreys return. We’ll also put up another nest that is (i) more than 2Km away from Monty’s nest (ii) not within line of sight, even from height (iii) not close to Monty’s usual direction of travel to and from food sources.

Haven't they had a similar problem at Glaslyn? I wonder if their spare platforms are still up.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Thanks Starling.
I've a feeling B24 could very well find this new nest. We can only hope it all works out OK. Time will tell :-)
You're right Clare - there were similar issues at Glaslyn. I do hope they have dismantled the spare platform there as it just caused havoc.
I hope she does - and I really, really hope a suitable male joins her. That's what I'd call a happy ending to this saga.
I'm sure I read a post to say it was down but maybe that is me hoping rather than reality.

Birdies LG DU update.
Lmac - I would love to see a blog that it is down!
I know Glesni and Monty aren't early birds but I can't remember when Blue 24 appeared. Does anyone know? (thanks in advance)
And .. I do hope Dai Dots makes it back, I'm a bit concerned about him.
Karen' I found this.
"In 2014, the first bird to visit Dyfi was on 24 March, when a four-year-old female from Rutland Water ringed Blue24 arrived."
The back of the Dyfi calendar has the following for her. 2015... 7/4, 2016...23/4.
Thanks Mike. So she arrived 23 April last year ... that is quite late for some reason I thought she was an early returnee but good as I am sure they will have the platform down in plenty time.
Can't understand why they just didn't take it down at the end of last year but doesn't matter as long as its dismantled :-)
