HAPPY NEW WEEK! Hello to everyone, and I hope you all have a good week.
I thought I would begin the week by honouring Brenda. She was a wise and truly kind person, and she will be missed.
Have a good night, OG.
Heather - Your family are lovely, even if it feels a bit like the old days when they gave you their laundry. ;-)
Well, we had a bit of a farce. Went into the kitchen to cook ham omelettes. My OH announced that he wanted to make his own, so I said "Well, I'll cook mine, but don't let me forget the pies". I'd made some mince pie with left over mincemeat, and one with peaches in, too.
Started my own omelette - halfway through, my OH broke three eggs into a jug and then decided to walk across the kitchen with the shells. He turned and fell over the dog! He collapsed sideways and I still don't know how he didn't hit his head on the edge of the worktop. I bent forward to grasp him and help him, at the same time thinking that the pan on the stove might burst into flames in a minute - then the phone rang!
I peeled him off the floor, saying "Are you alright?" - then reached for the phone and answered it whilst climbing back over my OH to get to the stove to rescue the pan!
It turned out to be our Eldest, with little Amber singing over the phone. I hastily explained, tended to the still edible omelette, and made sure my OH was now sitting down on a stool at the same time! Then I remembered the pies.. they are only slightly overdone..
Later, I ate said omelette but can't say I tasted it much! My OH is alright but now has a bruised knee to go with the black toenail he gained yesterday....
Linda - Oh dear! Too many cooks in one space? Do take care. I hope your OH has no more damage than bruises.
.
OG – I hope you have a good night’s sleep. I would start wondering what triggered the attack. Of course such thoughts may only lead to “If only I had . . .”
Heather – What would our young ones do without our driers or sewing ability or ancient recipes? We don’t really complain as it is nice to be wanted!
Linda – Miss5, twins & family were not at celebration. Big Sister has 5 kids plus OHs plus umpteen grandchildren. That lot with sisters, more OHs and a few friends filled 2 large tables. Big Sister’s OH generously paid for our lunch. I guess much easier than catering themselves at home. But they supplied the cake & pavlovas for afternoon tea. Youngest niece is engaged so I predict a wedding and another gathering.
Expecting 33 C and humid. Rest of week ranging 28-33. Tour DownUnder finished yesterday with Aussies collecting the trophies. Wannabe cyclists can relax & put bikes away til next year! A bit of a lull until Fringe Festival opens mid Feb.
Good morning, all. It's another very cold start here, with a bit more cloud than lately.
Lindy, I hope your hubby is feeling a bit better this morning Such a run of events, though, could only have happened in your home!
OG, I hope you'll wake up in less pain today. Keeping everything crossed.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I've now posted my photos from Trimley Marshes - click on this glossy crow to see more:
Thank you Clare. Another great set.
Birdies LG DU update.
Good Morning, from misty Cheshire. Can't see much beyond our garden hedge, as the mist & fog are hanging over the fields.
My OH seems to be OK today - I told him not to trip over in the fog, whilst walking the dog this morning......
Sounds like a jolly family party, AQ. Can't help wondering if the Aussie cyclists won because they're used to the heat!!
I've got routine cleaning to do today, plus the dreaded ironing basket is lurking.
Today's pic:
All together, now -- "Aww!"
Awwwwwwwwwwwww!
Just enjoyed your latest set of pics, Clare - love the mass incoming!
BTW - that Kestrel which I labelled as a Sparrowhawk - I often get them mixed up. I did post it on the What is this? thread at the time, and was told, but I still forgot!
Goodness, look at the time! - where has half the morning gone already?
OG: I hope you're going to come on and say that you had a reasonable night. No fun, pain like that keeping you awake. Do you have an appointment with your GP already?
The mist cleared here, and now my OH is down at the allotment where their water supply has sprung some kind of leak. They're given a shared supply by the Council, who own the allotments, and each member runs a hose to their own plot, to save walking long distances with buckets. Apparently our hose, which we share with a couple of others, is now slowly causing a puddle so something needs to be done.
