Only two osprey free months left in 2017. Then it all all starts again.

That is Green J's new nest not her old one. It is the old one we are taking about.
Ah ok I see so it's not the 2015 nest, it's before that?

As I understand it Green J and Blue XD both returned in 2015, but a new female ousted Green J. In 2016 she bred on a new nest with a new male, and sadly Blue XD did not return to the old nest, he died over the winter 2015/16. The query is what happened at the 'old' nest last year. It would be interesting to know.

Yes Sheila that's why I thought it was this paragraph
I also checked her old nest where last year’s intruder had also found a new mate, because blue XD died in Senegal last winter, and it looked as though she was just ready to lay eggs for the first time.

You are absolutely right. Unfortunately that is the last comment on that nest..On page 97 of "Life of Ospreys" it shows Green J being fitted with a satellite tracker. It says that her nest is A11. So A11 must have been the nest she occupied from about 1993 until 2015. Of course to make things more complicated nest A11 is also called nest 57 See The Flight of Osprey S06
Green J has had chicks translocated to Rutland and Urdaibai.
Yes it would have been good to have a follow up on the pair on Green J and Blue XD's old nest

I wonder whether Keith Rogers might know. He used to comment on the nest when Green J was there.
Sad and happy to report that unfortunately the LI nest collapsed in the gales over the last couple of weeks but good news as it is one of the most productive there is a race against time by rspb to reconstruct before the family arrive home. Hope you are all well

Is the actual branch holding the nest broken?
Utterly destroyed is what report says. I will be up with the next two weeks so I will go look. Report says rebuilding at beginning March by Abernethy team. Volunteers will stick and branch gather. It's says reconstruct as nest blown down so I am assuming just the nest. Will update when I swing past and take a snap or two
