Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 1 January 2017

  • Canada geese subtle?  You should see the mess they leave on our golf course ... nothing subtle when your ball lands in that!!!  But they are lovely to look at.

  • I also got a few cormorant snaps:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • MARGO- I do hope that the transfusion brings you some energy and appetite xx

  • {{{HUGS}}} and healing thoughts for Margo.

    .

{{{HUGS}}} for Heather as you cope with paperwork.

Pjs to school drop-off – Reminds me of a friend who had friend with a new babe. (This was many years ago.) The new mother was still in her dressing gown when her OH came home from work each day. “You must do something about it”, he ranted.
    She did.
She went out and bought a new dressing gown.

  • Good morning, all.  It's going to be a beautiful day here today, though a very cold one.

Great to hear from you, Margo - it's very good to read about the PICC line.  It's awful when veins become hard to find - Limpy knows all about that.

Aquilareen, love the dressing gown story!  New motherhood is very tiring.

I'm still making my mind up where I'm going with the camera today.  It would be criminal to waste such a lovely day so it will certainly be somewhere.

May I come too? It's too darn hot here for photo excursions. Forecasters have just revised next 2 days up to 40 & 41 C.

  • The day teleportation is a reality, Aquilareen, you'll be more than welcome!

  • Weather similar here today, CLARE, down to minus 3.5 recorded this morning - but our third bright sunny day, so no complaints.  Loved Cormorant pictures - really like to see them "hanging out to dry" with their wings spread.

J should be setting off back to work, but I think I detect some reluctance!  Cleaning day here - will this really be the end of the glitter, which gets everywhere?  Got to spend some time ordering stuff which didn't get done before - did some for OH, but mine got "left till later".

Hoping OH will be chasing up the builder who still hasn't come to do my shallower steps - so far, just two sample blocks and some bags of mortar sitting by the back door!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning.  Very, very frosty and cold here today, just as forecast.  Bright sunshine coming up now, though. Would rather have this than the rain!

OG:  Hope J enjoys work, when he gets there!   I remember hating going back to the usual routine after the seasonal break in winter, almost more than in summer.  Hope the steps project goes ahead without problems.

Clare:  You're really out and about this year!   Did you get a new camera for Christmas, LOL!!

AQ:  Its such a pity that you can't export us some warmth!  I'll have to make do with my thermal vests......

We took down our large tree for the last time, and it took two of us to carry it out to the car for transportation, which just shows how substantial it is! I then spent a happy hour sorting out the ornaments so that dear sis-in-law can have some of the larger ones to decorate it with, as I shall not need so many in future.  Also packed up some of the other decs:  the remainder of those will now have to wait until this afternoon, as I am off out with Friend shortly to the Sales. My OH has gone to golf this morning, though goodness knows how hard the ground must be, in this frost!!

Went out to relatives to wish them a Happy New Year yesterday, and were offered fruit cake - had to decline, as I just couldn't eat any more rich food.

Hope that Margo is having a better day now and that things improve for her.

  • Watch this space - builder SAYS he is coming this afternoon!

J did eventually set off - probably arrived late - "start as you mean to go on"!
