Hi folks, It was a fantastic day yesterday, despite the wind. There was a fledginging of the eldest chick and confirmed by the LG team.
Lots of wing exercising by all three, I think 4 fish were delivered, and intruder alets at times. In all, a normal day .
All quiet on the nest, the usual fidgiting going on.
Happy viewing, see you in the morning.

Fingers crossed Cirrus and I am sure either EJ or Odin will deliver eventually.

Thanks for that information margobird - I wasn't worried as they don't seem worried ... and they are very well-fed young ospreys. We are getting some lovely close-up views of that young one's head! And of course as soon as I say that ... down he gets :-))

Keep popping in to check on chicks. Thank you all so much for the clips and pics which are wonderful.
Also for the reassurance re fish deliveries, as was getting concerned. Must be a fish soon.
Afternoon everyone. Thank you all very much for all the pix and posts and to jsb for the stats table. Good idea to try and get photos of the youngsters to look for identifying features. Not an easy task though.
Another good day except for the lack of fish. Pretty unusual but I wonder if there are lots of intruder birds around. EJ and Odin might be busy seeing them off and unable to slip away to fish. I remember that one time Odin went missing for ages this was the problem. Unfortunately we can't see what is happening away from the nest. Also, if it has been raining that won't help either although we are used to such a plentiful supply of fish coming to the nest that there seldom seems to be any difficulty for EJ and Odin no matter what the weather is like. Fingers crossed for a teatime fish. Oh dear - sounds like it is raining heavily now.
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the pics and updates. I'm surprised there hasn't been any fish so far today but perhaps Odin and EJ have decided that the youngsters need to go on a diet. LOLRain sounds quite heavy now. :-(
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Hi everyone,Thanks for all the updates!
According to Roy Dennis's book at this time in the chicks development the parents cut way back on the food supply until they all fledge. Then they start delivering more fish.. He said it is thought they do this so they are not too fat to fly. LOL
Adult Osprey or fully developed juveniles eat 1-2 fish a day . When EJ was incubating the eggs she ate about 1 full fish a day. Odin usually brought 2 fish but she shared them with him
I wonder how long it will take for the next one to fledge.
If #3 goes next then it is probably a male ( males usually fledge before females ) and then #2 is probably a female.
Someone said this year is great, because no one will be proven wrong on their guess of the sexes :)
Even when Roy guessed the sexes it is just an educated guess and he admits he has been wrong on the sexes too
The reason many thought Garten was a male ( Roy said it was a female) was it fledged 2nd even though it was the 3rd hatched.

Oh well, gotta scoot around now and go to work - bye everyone - do have a good evening's viewing, despite the rain. I shall just hope for a fish report when I return (something after 10 pm)

What a racket ... I thought it was intruders ... but can't see anything!
The "When is dinner" chorus is in full voice! 2 are loudly yelling for a meal
The 2 that are yelling are doing so while laying down while #1 is standing near them looking on in amazement at the cacophony
