Tried to post yesterday without success, so here we go again.

I was going to post about the whopping Whoopers but see some of you have beaten me to it.

PAT O  Sorry you had such a long and tiring journey.

I had a swim yesterday morning while OH went to have new front tyres fitted. He had a walk while waiting and took a couple of photos at Muirton Basin.

OG - GP phoned yesterday. Cultures show that OH's bug is not sensitive to trimethoprim so improvement is probably not due to the drug, rather due to increased fluid intake and the passage of time. She has changed his Px to Nitrofurantoin. He is really quite weakened by this whole episode - GP and I agreed that it has knocked him for six. Also has lost 7lbs in weight. Now to build him up again! I fear that he may not ever be as fit as he was 6 months ago :-(  However, onwards and upwards. The main thing for me is keeping him out of the hospital, as you can imagine.

OG, Sorry you are having further mobility problems. Glad you can get some help to keep you going.

Lovely when room redecoration is nearing completion.

We had to relocate a lot of furniture and 'stuff'

Everyone seemed to enjoy the party, which I am very happy about, but in future I think we will stick to drinks and snacks. We  reckon are getting a bit old for anything too elaborate, especially as OH is not in the best of health.

Our friends were great, though, and the mix (of people) worked well.

Heather, your OH obviously needs some more chocolates!

Glad he is feeling better. You must be worn out. Seeing your son and grandson must be a help. More work for you, though,

Visited dentist Mon. I told him not to find anything . . . and he didn’t. Yesterday 3 hours nanny duty. Mostly spent sitting and supervising, occasional refereeing. Read 3 books, not simultaneously thank goodness. I think it is the ¾ hr twice driving that makes me tired more than the Little People. Tomorrow Chauffeur Friend & I are escaping southwards to capture a few stray churches we haven’t done and rechecking one that has been under renovation for several years (!). Weather has been yoyo-ing 15 28 18 C. Soon it will be too hot for escapes. As it is we shall have to watch for snakes. I must away now to plan tomorrow's list.

dibnlib: As Rosy says, you do have wonderful walking country!

Heather: Hope your OH continues to improve. I forgot, did he get a hearing aid or am I confused with my bro-in-law?  Onward and upward indeed....

OG: When will you get the steps installed? Good for J, letting go of spare furniture.  Wish my OH would agree to do the same. But let's get to the important stuff: What kind of cake did you bake?  

Rosy: Glad the party went off well. Drinks and snacks sound like a good option for the next one (which is when?)  :-)

AQ: That's a pretty long drive for nanny duty.  How many days are you doing it (once a week sounds quite enough)?  Does your Chauffeur Friend like old churches too or is it just getting out and about with charming you that appeals (of course, there are bakeries and coffee shops en route that might hold some attraction).

Brenda: Do pass on our best thoughts and AQ's hugs to Margo next time you hear from her.  Hope you're doing okay.

Good Morning, All.  A beautiful pink and orange streaked sky here, as the sun rises. Yesterday when we returned home, we found the farmer busily ploughing up the fields behind us: he had planted what is called 'green manure' which is a fast growing plant - you then plough it back into the soil and it rejuvenates it. He then worked through all yesterday evening, with lights, to replant with seeds whatever he wants to grow next. He varies it year to year.

There were hundreds and hundreds of gulls in the fields, which was quite a sight.

AQ - Glad your nanny duty went well, but even just sitting with little ones is tiring - you have to have eyes in the back of your head!

Annette - Long drive? Dau is only diagonally across the metro area. I have offered myself for nanny duty 3 hours once a fortnight. A bit hard to say I'm not fit to help if I am gallivanting on so many photo expeditions! Friend is interested in old buildings too, not to mention bakeries.
