HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!
Hi, All. It's been a long time since I've been able to start a new thread. I'm back at my home now. It should have been about a 45-mile trip home, but I got wildly lost on the prairie country roads near Lafayette. I thought I'd never make it home!!! I had to find my way back to the city and navigate the big interstate highways to finally get myself turned in the right direction. LOL
So far I haven't seen any squirrels, frogs, mice, or other critters in my house.I will catch up with you all in the next couple of days. I know I owe folks emails, too.
Everyone have a great week!Buck Deer in the Light of the Full MoonPhoto labeled Public Domain (Copyright Free)
Thank you for starting the week, DIANE. It is nice to have you back. Sorry that you have had such a distressing time.
Glad that no four legged (or any other legged) unwelcome critters were waiting for you on your return. Hope that you can get your life back together in time, and have some time to rest and recover.
The moon is really huge this evening and very bright. As I think Lindy said, no wonder the ancients were so in awe of it, and attached so much meaning to the different phases.
Sorry to hear of your brothers and nephews problems, Heather. It does sound as if being permanently in the UK would be best for them, all round.
Brenda - I remember that your OH had many investigations and tests, and hope it won't be too long before you can hear about the results.
We had mixed weather here today, and our Youngest in the Midlands had rain whilst we had sun, and vice versa. But we still have many flowering plants in the garden, as no frost yet. It's been a pretty good autumn really.
Annette, Looking after your various offspring and their menageries does take a lot of your time, especially as they are so spread out geographically. I am sure you enjoyed spending time with your G granddaughter, but you must be in need of a rest now. Will you find any chores done for you by your OH when you return?
(or is he one of those people who do not notice things that need doing?
I liked your pictures, LIndy. I have never been to those parts, either.
Glad Bonnie enjoyed her walk, and is being lovely.
Enjoy your time with your Danish friends, Heather.
Hello to everyone else not mentioned. Hope your cold does not last too long OG.
I swear by Lemsips. They always seem to relieve the symptoms for a while.
Thinking of Margo.
I find Lemsips very comforting, Rosy. There do seem to be a lot of head colds going around already.
Must get off to bed. Lots to do, tomorrow! Will try to find time to post more pics, though ;-)
Evening all: Settled in my usual motel in Blythe with salad and extras I picked up before leaving Prescott Valley. Should be home around lunchtime tomorrow.
Lindybird: I showed Ms D your photos of Dubrovnik and she couldn't believe the one of the narrow street. ("That's a street?!")
Brenda: I imagine you all are worn out with all the anxiety what with docs visits, tests, and DiL's op. Do hope there's good news all round. It's so awful to see the people we love suffer.
OG: Too bad about the cold and maybe even worse that no whisky allowed in your hot toddy! I think girls go through "that" phase - I remember being very dismayed at some of granddaughter's outfits at some point.
Heather: Sorry to hear your bro and his family are facing such a difficult time, but as you've said before, this seems to be just one more step in a long history of unfortunate decisions.
Rosy: OH is definitely one of those people who doesn't notice things that need doing on the domestic front, but he makes up for it in other areas.
Margo: Sending all the support possible via RSPB!
Diane: Hope you're settling back into some kind of routine and finding a modicum of comfort in that.
About to pour myself a glass of wine from one of the tiny bottles of cheapo plonk I bring along on these trips, then scarf up my salad. KitKat for dessert!
Take care all.
Good Morning Everyone. A rather restless and sleepless night. I have a hairdressing appointment at nine. Hope I don't fall asleep in the chair.
I hope you don't feel as bad this morning, OG.
Hope your friends arrived safely, Heather. Do enjoy their visit.
Sounds like an ideal travel meal, Annette. A salad and a KitKat with wine. Have a good drive home.
Good Morning, All. Sounds as if Annette has her travelling menu all sorted out sensibly!
Hope the rest of your journey is uneventful, Annette.
BRENDA - Have visions of your hairdresser washing and snipping, whilst you doze oblivious in the chair! Seriously, though it's not surprising, as Annette says, that you're washed out after such a busy and worrying few weeks.
Came on to do my pics, half an hour ago, and nothing will post!
---- just getting the whirligig....
Hooray! Perhaps now I can do it.... a bit wary, though....
Finishing our day trip to Dubrovnik, where you might gather I took a lot of pics (not all on here as too many!)
There were many tiny alleyways, but however small, they had found a use for them and there were lots of small bars, restaurants and other things:
We were taken to an art gallery where there were some interesting pictures by famous artists: the wealthy had themselves painted into the scene, quite often, even if it were a religious painting, so that they would be there forever as the sponsor of the picture! We were discouraged from filming, though.
I just found out that the monastery I referred to before was a Dominican one, built 15th century.
We went to sit by the tiny old harbour on the far side of the city, where there were small ferries and private boats. Notice the leaden sky - shortly after this it rained!
