Well folks, its been a disappointing day in the fact that the three bairns will not be named, tagged or ringed but that has come from official lines as I hope all of you have seen and we have to acknowledge the expertise of the powers that be.Nevertheless, there has been a lot of wing exercising and mini flights on the nest during the course of the day. Not many fish were delivered, but hey, they have to get trim so they can fledge properly.
Paul, you will see that I have replied to you on the last of the posts for yesterday.
All at peace and sleeping with the odd plink plonk of what sounds like rain.!!!!!!!
Happy viewing and see you in the morning, night, night.

Thanks for that Lindybird. And Ghengis - see what you mean! All day the wind has been so gusty that it seemed as if they would be blown into the air!
EJ thinks it was an accident and has decided to fortify the nest! She's testing the barricades.
Think it will be a while before I can transfer the GEM's label to meaning Graceful Elegant Movers!
Here is the last pic of today from the still camera, don't you think that one on the left looks just like Odin:
Nice capture Lindybird. There was some furious flapping a moment ago and it was like deja vu. One in front of the camera and one behind on the edge of the nest both flapping at the same time. No lift-off though. (I did manage to do a couple of hours gardening this afternoon. Very enjoyable. BTW - what flower is your avatar?)
Oh, do it anyway Lindy --- graceful elegant movers sounds WONDERFUL !! LoL
Woah! there they go again! -- How can I concentrate, I'm trying to cook roast chicken!
My flower is one of my beloved poppy pictures, but the site has squashed it down so it looks strange - might change it again!
I just logged in to read the great news of the fledging. Thanks to everyone for the information. pics and videos!!
Watching the reaction of the other chicks to the one that had just fledged was priceless. it was like " What's he doing up there?" LOL
I think Roy is right they are males, at least #1 is a male. I just heard it make an alarm type screech and it sounded " exactly like Odin". I read that males have a higher pitched screech
From what i have gathered an intruder tried to land on the nest and spooked #1 who flew to the camera post on the nest. The intruder continued to bother #1 . EJ flew in to do battle with the intruder and chases it off.
The newly fledged chick made a clumsy landing back on the nest and all is well.
Is this how it happened?
Within a couple of days #1 will be flying to and from the nest as if it has been flying it's entire life.
They are growing up too fast !
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
You only have to resize your original poppy to the size allowed then upload again Lindy. Are you able to do that? If you do it won't get squashed.

i dont think #1 was 'spooked' Barbera Jean, it looks on the video it looks more like he got it wrong and forgot he was at the edge of the nest and got caught by a gust of wind!! xx

Aha !! So that's what happened.
Thanks for the information.
I just saw #2 get a little lift . Another Fledge tomorrow??
