The osprey season is in full swing. The two chicks at Loch Garten have been examined, ringed and named and other nests in the area are following along in due time.
We are glad to be following two healthy juveniles named Willow and Rowan.
KEITH said "Just had time to look for osprey news as I had to fly out to Varna in Bulgaria to survey an LPG Ship coming in to dock. Will be home Tuesday evening"
Keith, guess I will never understand what you do for a living. You climb towers in Wales, you fly helicopters to Lerwick, you watch the manufacture of engines in Paris so you can install them someplace else, you joke with the office staff somewhere in the great Sahara, you wait for a startup on Bioka Island, you attend carnivals in Germany and on and on. Now the most intriguing hint of all - You survey a ship in Bulgaria.
I will confess ( Just in case you don't already know it) that I always look forward to the next clue.
EJ (I think, can't see the chest for pos ID) has a full course dinner at hand, but no one to share it with. There was some back & forth calling, but no one came.
Good evening all. Nice to see EJ and Odins now very healthy looking juveniles are doing so well. It won't be long before they leave us :( Time goes so quickly!
YO a juvenile from Kielder has not returned after fledging so does not look good. It seems to be a very dangerous time for these young birds.
We have had a young juvenile spotted woodpecker on our feeders being fed by his mother, and making a lot of noise :)
That looks like a huge fish that EJ has, looks like an eel!
It was the whole thing, head tail and all. I don't know exactly what an eel looks like, but this fish was long ad skinny. Skinny enough to be an eel?? I don't know.
Do they have eels in Scottish waters?
Hello June I don't know if there are eels in Scottish waters! Not much of an expert in these, except I know they are long and thin and some people here eat them jellied :)
LOL 58willow. And smoked!
They are apparently a protected species, and are in Scottish waters...read more here

I've been trying to think of any fish or fish dish that I might have eaten jelled and can.t think of any. But I like to try new foods and so would try jelled eel if the occasion presented itself.

It is raining here this evening. Sounds like music on the roof.
This is quite a site you have led us to, SheilaFE' All kinds of interesting things about Scotland. I've saved it to my favorites.
