HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

On Monday: HAPPY SOLSTICE and HAPPY FULL MOON!

This will be the first Full Moon to fall on the June Solstice since 1967 -- the Summer of Love! -- according to EarthSky. Other sources say it hasn't happened since 1948.

The Slooh Observatory will host an online live streaming special dedicated to the Solstice and Full Moon combination event.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

Lindy, she will one day calm down or ignore the rabbits.   Mind you when we take our neighbours dog out up north (he's 5), he loves rabbits and loves to flush out ground birds.  He will often come back with a rabbit in his mouth.  This on the whole doesn't bother me, it is more the millions on fleas on them that concern me.  I think as long as Bonnie is not putting herself in danger it is in her instincts.  You could always put said rabbit in a stew pot :)

She may put herself in danger, though, as she ignores roads and traffic and is completely single minded about it.  She absolutely adores my OH, as Leader of the pack, and would up to a point, do almost anything for him. Yet she tries repeatedly to escape from the garden.........

My OH used to eat rabbit pie, as a boy, as when money was short his father went out with a gun and brought dinner home. Neither of us fancy eating rabbit since the mixamatosis days, though. We still have to live in a divided house, where she is denied access to most of it as she would destroy things. We still have an (extra tall) dog gate on the dining room door, which is a continual nuisance and which we thought we would only need through the puppy stages, but I can see will be there for ten years! Although we have just redecorated, there will be no replacement of the curtains there, or of breakable things in the conservatory, except for a couple of houseplants.

  • OG - Good to hear your journey has gone well: enjoy yourselves!

  • Lmac - I'll cover for you then!

  • Lindy a trick we learned for doors cupboards and wood furniture is a touch of neat washing up liquid. Tapaidh doesn't get upstairs as that is the cats space. And she is now learning that she doesn't beg at the table.

  • Hi, Annette. I just checked the KTLA news. It said your fire has now burned 7,800 acres and is being fought by 2,000 firefighters. I agree; those folks who fight those fires are among the bravest workers in the world! I got to see a map of the fire area, and it looks like it's still not threatening your immediate vicinity. You might want to get yourself an air cleaner for the house. They work pretty well. I often used one when my parents were ill. I just wanted you know that I care!

  • Evening all: Just managed to inadvertently hit a combination of keys that close down the thread. Grrrr.  Anyway...

Lindybird/Lmac: The rabbit discussion has got me remembering that old song: Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run....

dibnlib: Oh my - Sir Rod Stewart, eh? Well, I'm clearly out of touch.

OG: I like the coffee and cake part of your journey.

Diane: Thank you - temps here were lower than forecast and if the winds aren't as fierce as forecast, we should be okay. We've had the helicopters going all day as they come and go for retardant.  Spoke to my granddaughter in Prescott Valley today and it was 110F in the shade!!  Very unusual for them at that elevation. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 122F in Palm Springs. Re air quality, I signed up for fire alerts and we get daily updates on progress that also include air quality and particulate counts. Not too bad and the breeze has come from the ocean, which helps. BBQd tonight; a lovely evening - in my neighborhood anyway.

    Have a good Monday everyone.

  • Glad you're okay, Annette. I'm a tough ol' woman, but I could not survive 122 F (that's 50 C).

  • Good Morning, All.  Drizzling here but supposed to clear up: the weather looks as if it might improve a little this week.

Annette - That's HOT!!   Hope you all continue to keep safe. I remember the "Rabbit Run" song!

My OH is already up a ladder, repainting a bit of wall he had to rub down. We decided against giving it an Artex finish in the end, for fear it might look old fashioned. He's trying to make it look better without papering or giving it a new finish.

Hope that those on their holidays are enjoying their break, and that Margo is feeling lots better.

  • ps -  Annette - Your fires have finally made it to a small mention on our News, here.  We are up to our ears in the Referendum at present, as the vote is on Thursday.
