HAPPY NEW WEEK!!!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

Seems like a lot of folks on this thread have been facing adversity of one kind or another. Sending you all best wishes and good energy.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

  • I agree with all you have said, OG and Linda. No motive as yet.

  • LINDA - in pictures of them in their little lifejackets on a small boat in yesterday's action on the Thames, they look very young - maybe three and four.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I am so very sorry about the death of Jo Cox. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and to the people of the U.K.

  • Morning all:  Horrible news this morning from the UK re the young MP; you really don't expect stuff like that to happen there. :-((

Diane: I'm always impressed by people who put together these quilts and especially love the historical theme, especially as the proceeds of the sale will go to preserving those barns. People are so generous with their talent and time.

Heather: Assume you've impressed on Callum the importance of phoning home to let everyone know he's arrived.  We still do that and everyone is well past the novice driver stage!

OG: Here's hoping for lovely weather for your trip. And yes, we really need vacations after all the exhausting preparations re gardens, pets, etc. even if it's just for a few days.

Lindybird: We cheated when the carpeting was cleaned before the family came. Told the guy to just do the best he could; after all, it's probably still pristine, if maybe dusty. Can't even get the vacuum under one really heavy piece.  Big smile here at vision of Eldest watering artificial flowers!.

George: Always good to hear from you - what a great idea for Diane. I'm thinking goats.  Take care of yourself and enjoy your birthday; after all, consider the alternative. :-)

Mike: Those photos of the sea eagles are impressive, both the actual shots themselves and the sharpness. Thanks for the link. I saw a news item a couple of weeks ago about folks, somewhere in Europe, training (Golden?) Eagles to catch drones. Apparently they can chase down smaller drones and grab them without hurting their legs/talons.

Brenda: Maybe some more building site closures in your near future? :-)

A wildfire broke out up the road at Refugio last night, about 10 minutes up the freeway from us. The freeway was closed but is now open, at least for a while. Trouble is they're forecasting Increased heat and strong offshore winds tonight and tomorrow, which is what drove the flames last night, so we'll see what develops. No problems expected here, though we can see the smoke west of us and smell it too. Rather early in the year for this, although we were so lucky last year with no local fires.

Have been faffing around all morning, so am off to gym...

  • What dreadful news about the MP shooting. From what has been said of her it would seem she was someone who really did want to make a difference for others. I'am afraid so many MPs just want to look after no1.

  • OG   I have lost track, where are you off to?

  • DIBNLIB - to The Vale of Belvoir - England's East Midlands.  To include meeting up with BiL (last time we went the extra journey to his home in Cambridge which was too far for me, but since he is now on his own, he is free to travel, so we shall meet partway).

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I am really really shocked about the murder of Jo Cox and am astounded at some of my fellow human beings, the low levels they stoop to and the country I live in. Totally lost our moral compass

  • Good Evening Everyone,

AQ,  Glad the insurance company has paid up. Good to know that sometimes they do. We  had  a bad experience  a couple of years ago.

Best wishes for your forthcoming op. Sure you will be glad when it is 'done'

Diane,   Beautiful quilts. A lot of work in them. My talents only run to knitted log cabin pattern blankets, mostly done whist watching TV.

As for sewing, never did get it ! Well done, Lindy for finishing that hem. I remember sewing at school. We first had to make an apron for cookery lessons. All the others were wearing theirs, long before I had finished mine. And don't even mention the Dirndl skirt! (I never completed it) I think I was relegated to picking up the pins.

I like M&S clothes because of the different lengths.

I was due to play in a bowls match this afternoon, but it was cancelled because of rain. I haven't needed to water plants for days.

Enjoy your holiday, OG.   I think we do need a holiday after all the preparations for one.

Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned . Always good to read all the news. Everything is of interest.
