HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

No time for a post or replies from me, folks. Really, really busy. I'm sending good wishes to all. Heather: I hope your daughter is improving.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

  • Best to quit while you're ahead Lindy!  :-))

  • LINDY- only you two can make the decision xxx But, if the health of either of you suffers because of stress, I hope that you would be able to see beyond love for your dog and think about the love you have for each other and have shared for many years. Hope that I haven't spoken out of turn. Hugs from here.

  • Good evening, all.  Air today has been really humid and heavy, but we still have sunshine, although there have been showers in Dumfries.  OH painted the back and one end of shed and has put storage (resting bulbs, cold frames and mini-greenhouse frames) tidily behind it.  We shall be feeding veg plants after coffee, and the watering anything that looks thirsty!

Brenda – sorry to see that you have not fully recovered your strength, and hope you will soon be 100%.

Chrisy – I hope the big storm didn’t do any damage where you are.  Clouds are all going around us, apparently – either south down the Solway, or north into the Lowther Hills!  Pleased it was good for the open garden day, and I hope that good weather returns for the wedding this weekend.

Linda – glad your discussions reached a conclusion; only you can decide if it is the right one for you three.  Does deciding to “battle on” mean continuing the status quo, or returning to step one and taking some training?  Pleased you are moving on, with the project in the dining room.  Your new wellies will match your favourite Poppies!

We shall be going to the church lunch tomorrow – doesn’t seem a month since last one!  The usual for June is “Strawberry teas”, but this year has moved to lunchtime, so no soup and it looks as if we are getting filled rolls and strawberry desserts.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Heather - Without going into too many details, it certainly helps to have a solid relationship at times like these. But as I said, we have been on rather a lose lose situation because it has put a strain on my health, and then the other day, my OH said he couldnt go on because it was bad for me: he was too worried about me - then I said that I couldnt give the dog up because he would be too upset....... it's not been at all easy. :-(

EDIT-  you havn't spoken out of turn - I'm touched that you've taken an interest.

Annette - it's always been my sense of humour which has kept me going through tough times!  :-))

  • OG - Its been heavy and humid here, too. Sunny this afternoon and so hot whilst I was trying to put in some of my plants, that I had to go indoors again! Hope you enjoy your strawberries tomorrow!

We had a treat last night - brand new, New potatoes straight from the allotment. They truly melted in the mouth.

  • LINDA - fed and watered relevant plants with one eye on a cloud - but nothing happened!  Well done to your OH, for having potatoes already.  When did he plant them? Ours are usually planted on Good Friday (family tradition) but with the early Easter and weather at that time, I did them a week later this year.

  • Linda, Pleased that you have made up your minds about Bonnie. You can't let all that dog food go to waste. Somehow, you have got to relax now and not become ill through being so tense. It is summer now and you can go to Wales when you choose. Three lovely grandchildren and a very happy marriage.

It became very hot here, today and I had to water my pots. I haven't planted my big pots yet, although I have bought the plants, but to my horror, two of the pots, which my OH had cleaned and put fresh compost in them, are over run with ants. We will have to empty them again ! Oh, the joys of gardening :-((

OG, My parents always said that potatoes should be planted on Good Friday. Neighbour gave me two beautiful lettuce from his garden today. They taste so good. I bought some strawberries, which have been grown in the Kent poly tunnels. They really were so juicy and full of flavour.

  • Lindy: I hope your decision works out best for all concerned. Hugs to you and good luck!

Annette: I know that you love trains like I do, so I thought I'd post this. From the 1800s, the Wabash Railroad (named after the Wabash River) operated trains here in the Midwest. They named their express passenger train "The Wabash Cannonball" after the song. It ran through Lafayette, Indiana, my old home town on the Wabash River.

Here's a video of the restored Nickel Plate Road 765 steam locomotive smoking her way along the old route of the Wabash Cannonball here in Indiana. It made me tear up. You can see the people in the small towns lined up to photograph her and wave. At 5:49, you can see a small town near Lafayette.

Don't bother to watch these if you aren't interested. I'm train crazy.

  • Heather: Just out of curiosity, I meant to ask you whether you rolled back your computer to your original operating system? Or did you stay with Windows 10 and get it set up the way you wanted it? Either way, congrats on figuring it out.
