For those who didn't have time to go thru yesterday's DU pages (even tho there weren't as many due to it being Moffer's birthday and she was missed), here is a lovely snap of EJ with #1 (those wings! and where was #2?!) which Moffer posted from RSPB Operation Osprey's Facebook page:
At least 3 fish and some intrusions yesterday, each dealt with appropriately.
This was EJ returning from the briefest of flyarounds @ 0022hr:
Not a lot of sleep, but some, so far.
IMAGICAT
Starting at 0332hr, an unknown bird and a cuckoo. The unknown bird is still calling.
EJ listening, with her back to us, of course :-(
DAYCAM 0356hr:
She steadfastly refuses to turn around:
All is very quiet, those birds stopped a while ago and no little birds have taken their place yet.
She stirred and I heard an osplet-poop, but the screen froze so I just got one frame of copper feathers:
And then a glimpse of profile:
But the snap won't upload, no matter how many times I try, so... I'm really fed up with this struggle.
Trying a different one, just a glimpse again, she's digging under the osplets:
Phew!
Cuckoo's back, and the "unknown bird". Are they different versions of the cuckoo?
I think the RSPB must be employing greengrocer's ;-)
And to add insult to injury, the page is blank !!!
Got it! The "unknown bird" is the female cuckoo - looking for somewhere to lay her eggs. I know that because David Attenborough just told me, so I won't be gainsaid ;-)
EJ is up with mighty flaps. Sunrays masking our view.
And back on the osplets.
I thought I heard an alarm call just now, just a brief series of chirps.
