Hallo all: I put up the painters' tape showing the dimensions of the various flat-screen tellys (tellies?) we're looking at and now we're thinking maybe we don't need a really big one.
Auntie: Great that you had a lovely day at Pohtiolampi; how fun to see ospreys in action.
OG: I say put Loch Garten for sure on your trip north! We expect a full report! OMG: That python/gator photo was fascinatingly gross. Talk about his eyes being bigger than his belly!! Eeeeuw! Why did I think orchids were a hot-weather plant.... Well - if you go to Caerlaverock, hope you enjoy it. Are "kissing gates" the same as stiles? All I can remember is "Would you rather run a mile, jump a stile, or eat a pancake in a field?" Oh dear. Talk about regressing...... Thanks for update on Big Rig Steve; haven't been on the computer all day. Had earnest discussion with vines, who have promised to behave, and gave some encouragement to the tomatoes, which are being a bit shy. Currently, our ailing Navel Orange tree is getting a lot of TLC in the form of deep watering followed by nutritional snack that will make it feel better (and we hope, look and and taste better).
AQ: Universal laws transcend borders. :-)
It's July 4 - Independence Day - tomorrow; will start off the day shortly after 6 a.m.(!) with live Wimbledon coverage (on our normal channel - just checked!), then will putter about before picking up daughter in late afternoon to go to Mission Santa Ynez, where we'll watch July 4 fireworks display. OH not thrilled with fireworks, so he'll stay home and keep Lightning company (she doesn't like them either).
In the meantime, off to check on osprey cams.
Good afternoon george g and welcome back. How lovely to have got the osprey print for your birthday (Happy Birthday belatedly) and pleased to see you got to LG a couple of times. Hope BiL is progressing and how kind to take SiL shopping etc. No wonder you have been busy.
The weather has been against them for ringing and tagging and I note that the wind has got up a bit again now although it is dry. It will be such a shame if they can't do this as at least we would like to know whether they are all females this time or a mix. There has been a lot of wing exercising going on so time is running out basically.
Have a good weekend yourself.
Margobird
Dear Odin brings in another fish.
EDIT Sorry folks......... refuses to let me delete it
Morning all: Paul the psychic octopus!!?? Now I've heard everything! Oh no! An Asian parrot says Holland?
BrendaH. Nice that your're staying flexible for the Monday event.
Alan: Hope the weather is pleasant for your trip. Watch out for the loonies on the road.
Still in bed after not a lot of sleep. Have to go out later and plan not to stir until the last possible minute. Gray here again right now...
Oh. Missed page 13 - it wasnt there a minute ago! Something weird is happening with the posts. Hmm.
Heather: I think OG is due back tomorrow
GeorgeG. I do hope you did something nice for your birthday! Sounds like you're busy with family stuff - very good of you!
Belated happy birthday, George G. Signing off for the night now as I'm off to watch the Tour de France highlights for today, although I don't find it too interesting until they get to the mountains.
Terry in Cumbria
Annette - Hope you get more sleep tonight. I am a post menopausal insommniac and often feel tempted to log on to this site during our night when you guys will be around!! Usually, I listen to BBC World Service though headphones----
Evening everyone. Not been on here for a while so need to catch up. Hope AlanP and LadyP have a very enjoyable holiday in the Lake District. GeorgeG - belated birthday wishes to you. Glad you were able to visit LG and have a lovely souvenir osprey print. I am looking forward to World Cup final on Sunday, Grand Prix and lots of osprey watching before then. Off to read some more of the Weekly
A few notes - so glad that you are winning with the intricacies of your new hearing aid, margobird - and that you are already feeling the benefits.
Diane: we feel scared when you mention earthquakes, not something we are used to here, except in a very minor way, and many years between events! Glad you are OK, and hope that you have got the car fixed by now, or at least have found a Man who will sort it for you.
georgeg: Happy Birthday, even if its a bit late now. How nice that you were thought of in that way, to have that print will be such a pleasure.
Off to get something alcoholic now - have a Good Weekend everyone, & those going on their hols hope you have a good time.
Good morning. That was a stormy night, wild weather, wind gusts up to 78 mph, blackouts in many suburbs (not ours), but not much rain. Late last night I was watching Tour de France to the sound of mysterious bangs & clatters & a tumbling rubbish bin. I must praise this TV channel; unlike the tennis, the cycling broadcast starts on time.
Lindybird - I reported parrot prediction to Himself who says it is not much of a parrot if it doesn’t copy the octopus . . .
Diane - Cars are all very well when they work, but when they stop, alas, these days even the simplest problem seems to be major. Before modern gadgets, a twist of wire would fix many things :-) Hope you get your wheels running soon.
Everyone else - Thanks for your chatter. Too many late nights, I’m too tired to remember what I was going to reply. A few more Universal Laws:-
Brown's Law of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.
Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.
Oliver's Law of Public Speaking - A closed mouth gathers no feet.
Well, I hope Adelaide weather improves a little for my visit! It looks as though I'm going to miss any 'ringing and blinging' attempt now, because I'm of to Adelaide for 2 weeks tonight. I just came on to check progress and say HI and "BYE before I turn of my notifications. My OH would have a pink fit if he had to deal with those every day! LOL. See you when I get back, everybody! ;-)
Smiles, Jan.
