Happy Independence Day America. (hope I've got my history right)
It was a very gusty day at LG. What with EJ having difficulty landing earlier on that day and trying to keep on the nest when she was there. Lots of wing flapping exercises, one nearly took off but not quite. To top it all it started to rain.
EJ is right on the edge of the nest and has now taken off , probably going to her roost tree. Earlier she brought in a very large trout and just before that Odin had brought in a fish and left it for the youngsters. One did try to feed itself and then when mum came back with hers, abandoned it and went to mum for a feed. In all an entertaining day watching these incredible birds.
Happy viewing and we'll see what today brings. Night, night.

Good morning all and crikey it has been busy on here. Didn't have al lot time to look in yesterday so have missed the .largest feeding itself. They all develop so fast and not looking in for a while makes you realise this. Really looking forward to the ringing and blinging tomorrow weather permitting and at last we will find out whehter we have 3 girls again or 2 girls and a boy. Of course will be extemely interested in the weight of them as well. Seen there has been some rain and still so very windy but the marvellous EJ and Odin still managing to catch fish. What great parents these two are.
Thanks to everyone for all the posts and Heron77b your bird bath reference really made me laugh. Thanks also for all the great pics, at least I can keep up to date with the happenings. As I type I think EJ is calling Odin for another fish. Was a bit worried yesterday when only 3 had been delivered when I looked in but can see now more fish did arrive courtesy of EJ and Odin.
Off to catch up with the weekly chat now so have a good Sunday and Happy July 4th to all our American friends, have a great day.

It seems terribly windy at LG ... poor EJ looks like she is digging her talons into the nest to stay there!

Morning all,
Thanks for all the overnight and early morning reports. That wind is really getting strong now. They were talking about 70 mph gusts on the weather forecast last night. I suspect the ringing/tagging may have to be delayed if it continues tomorrow. I would not fancy going up a ladder to that height in a gale.
EJ has returned from her short flight around. You can really tell where she is now by the way the young ones turn their heads. One nearly went round and round but then undid and went the other way. Very windy but looking sunny up there, unlike here.

EJ tucked in and hunkered down with the three wee ones, still very wet and windy :o(
EJ has her head down, snuggled up with young ones, trying to keep out of the wind.
Its raining again and EJ is hunched down in the nest trying to protect her brood but they are too big to go under her. All three are staying low out of the wind . Two looking around them at the moment.
Shower seems to have passed as EJ is up and shaking her feathers from time to time. At present the gusty wind keeps making her cower. One youngster, i think its Titch, is awake and looking round.
Hello
Just logged on to richard's new blog and explanation of the tagging and ringing. Hope they a get a break in the weather to carry it out. EJ on nest at moment acting as a wind break for the wee'est but it looks quite bright so mabybe they're missing the rain up there.. Can't see a thing at Lowes for raindrops on the camera

Just been looking at the capture photo of the three looking up at mum flying off and from that they all look the same because of the angle. Its uncanny.
