Daily Update (LG Nest) Saturday 3rd.July

Hi everyone,  not seen much of the action yesterday as I have been on and off the computer. Believe it had its moments though.

All quiet as all three GEM's are sleeping and EJ must be roosting in a tree nearbye.

Not sure what the weather is doing, it sounded like a shower earlier.

Happy viewing, see you all in the morning.

  • EJ may be on  the nest since I am sure the  wind is stronger where she  usually sits on the  top of the bare tree.

Poor Odin is probably hanging on to his branch  with all of his strength.

  • I know it a long way off,  but next  year  will be very interesting to see if Rothes  comes back for a visit. and Correct me if I am wrong , but I think if she comes back she will be the first  tagged LG  Osprey to return.

I wonder what she looks like now .

  • I don't know enough of the history, Barbara Jean,  but I'm agog too, to see if Rothes returns.  I'm sure if someone else more knowledgeable reads our posts they will be able to tell us if she will be the 1st tagged osprey to return.

I think on the day when  Rothes turned 1 year old  either   Alan or Tiger or someone said it  was  a milestone because no  "tagged " LG Osprey had live to 1 year.

    Barbara Jean,

That was so, though there are a very few cases where other ospreys sat-tagged as juveniles have returned home. I have been looking this up, and believe that there are just 3 to date across the whole of Europe, also a few in the States. If you're interested, will write it up and post in one of the "Tracking" threads.

  • All gone quiet on the nest, after a few grumblings from the young 'uns...

EJ is now doing her yoga for the day, whilst they sleep for a bit...

  • Afternoon all and thanks for all the reports and updates. I see we have had a difference of opinions this morning on the forum and I wasn't involved....Amazing. Lets hope it has all subsided and we can get on with our enjoyment of these wonderful birds. Really looking forward to the naming, ringing, tagging of the chicks and then we can differentiate between the individual characteristics more easily. I am beginning to think there will be at least one male this time as there must be quite high odds against 6 females in a row.
