Hi everyone, not seen much of the action yesterday as I have been on and off the computer. Believe it had its moments though.
All quiet as all three GEM's are sleeping and EJ must be roosting in a tree nearbye.
Not sure what the weather is doing, it sounded like a shower earlier.
Happy viewing, see you all in the morning.

Agreed Sandy - about the head movement and 'method' - I'm just thrilled to watch it. I didn't see which one first took the fish , so middle chick had a go too - wonderful.
Without pouring through all of last year's blogs I can't be sure, but I'm convinced that none of the youngsters fed themselves so competently at this stage last year (before ringing took place).
Fantastic to watch!
Chick on the left is still feeding its self whilst the other two being fed by mam:-)
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Was this a WHOLE fish this juvie has just demolished with relish

I believe you are right, Sandy, as my memory serves me - of course it was a whole year ago, but i'm sure you are right.
One of the Lowes chick fed its self earlier this afternoon too :-)
Wonderful birds!
I think (?) it is #1 because it doesn't have much white not he "side " of it's head.
Why share and get every 3rd bite when you can have a fish all to yourself LOL
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
lol Barbara Jean. So true!!
Lowes chicks both airborne across the nest, so funny - think the wind may be assisting tonight.

I also think you are right. Plus last year and the year before they did a lot more struggling to learn to eat. This chick just jumped in and starting eating like an adult
Now it decided to let mum serve it . #2 left the feeding line, took a look at the fish on the nest, and walked over it
