Hi everyone, not seen much of the action yesterday as I have been on and off the computer. Believe it had its moments though.
All quiet as all three GEM's are sleeping and EJ must be roosting in a tree nearbye.
Not sure what the weather is doing, it sounded like a shower earlier.
Happy viewing, see you all in the morning.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere (maybe on this RSPB site or it might have been on Roy Dennis')) that it is usually the male osprey who returns to its place of birth and the females search for sites further afield. I seem to remember it was something to do with the difference between eagles (not sure which kind) and ospreys as the eagles do it the other way round.
If that is the case, we might not see Rothes in the LG area. Just hope she makes it back to the UK, safe and sound, wherever she ends up.
Unknown said: Afternoon all and thanks for all the reports and updates. I see we have had a difference of opinions this morning on the forum and I wasn't involved....Amazing. Lets hope it has all subsided and we can get on with our enjoyment of these wonderful birds. Really looking forward to the naming, ringing, tagging of the chicks and then we can differentiate between the individual characteristics more easily. I am beginning to think there will be at least one male this time as there must be quite high odds against 6 females in a row.

Hi Alan,
I know they are planning to ring the chicks, but do we know if they are going to name them and tag them this year? I'm not a regular so maybe this has been discussed and I missed it.
That's interesting, FlyingC - thanks for that info about the returns from migration. I'll have a look in my Roy Dennis book - I got it for Christmas but I'm still reading it through, as have been so busy watching actual 'live' ospreys that I havn't finished it yet ; - )
Odin has arrived, Fishless - so EJ is not amused. as the wind was so strong! EDIT; Oh gosh, I could have sworn that was Odin! how big have these become ???
--- I heard the birds shouting, and came in to find a bird on the edge of the nest as if just landing.. it was as big as Odin! but was one of the youngsters, trying to practice.
Flying C: in the absence of Alan, who is more of an expert on these things, I can tell you that yes, they are going to ring, name and weigh all three chicks and then put satellite trackers on the two older ones.
Hi Lindybird,
Thanks for that. I realised after I posted that it looked like I was asking Alan specifically but it was intended as a question to all in general! Looking forward to the names.
That's OK FlyingC. Alan is one of the more expert here, but I think he is probably elsewhere on the site or else watching the Tennis Final!
EDIT: I'm so looking forward to the names, too.
Odin finally does land, but has no fish with him! EJ is not impressed, and shouts at him to get more fish - he just looks embarrassed!!
He flew off after a minute of being shouted at... expect he's got the message now, and gone fishin'
I saw that Linda:) EJ was most underwhelmed by it all!
Won't be surprised if she goes fishing herself soon.
