Hi everyone.Well what a day we had on the 15th. Foogy start, six fish, and endless other dramas. Sound fairly windy at LG at the moment. I guess those chicks are learning about a Scottish "summer" at as early an age as possible. LOLPaul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Titch is loudly chattering
It may have wanted more fish
I also worry that EJ is not getting enough food . Especially now that chick # 1 wants to eat the tail

Me too Brenda
I have hardly seen her eat anything while I've been watching.
Off to do dinner, back soon
Best wishes Chris

Have just been watching lately as so busy and once on the comp can't get off. Loving the family but.....Please somebody tell me that they wish the chicks didn't have to be tagged. There must surely be enough statistics without all these ospreys flying about with transmitors on their backs every year. Beautiful birds with aerials!! I'll probably get shot down in flames now but that's my thoughts.
Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.

I have mixed feelings about tagging. Tagging and Web cams allow people to follow the activities and migration of these birds. As more people become enchanted with them they contribute money and time for their preservation. Buying land to set up a preserve and building nesting platforms takes money. Volunteers are needed to protect them. The entire world wide Osprey population benefits from the interest in them.
There is an old Chinese proverb that fits this larger picture
" When you take a drink of water remember to thank the person who dug the well"
The birds that have carried these tags have contributed immensely to the continued re population.
Lovely to hear from you Tish. No Tish you won't be shot down in flames. There are so many type of birds which are now tagged and, yes, I would love the day to come when the experts think it is no longer necessary but in the meantime I will support it, if it is truly helping the birds long term and educating people around the world.
tish: I thought long and hard about this when I first became involved with the birds. I know just what you mean, no need to explain. They are beautiful birds and a wonderful example of Nature's best. However - the procedure does not hurt them. If the whole thing is done in a very controlled way, and it is, with people involved who are real lovers of the creatures and with their best interests as a breed at heart, I believe the use of tags and aerials is justified just as Barbara Jean says, for the greater good. The more that can be learnt about these birds and where they fly to, the more we can help them to survive as a species in today's harsh world. No-one cares more than me that none are harmed or upset by any of this. Of course, I do respect and value your opinion very much.
EJ just brought another large branch for the barricade
If she keeps this up Odin may need to drop his catch from the air. He won't be able to land :)
just logged back on after a hectic day..... loving the way #1 (or #2 - cant tell) is trying to out-stare the camera. having 'met' EJ, Odin, the little ones and the fantastic staff at LG last week, i cannot get over the speed they are growing, when you think that the nest is about the size of a double bed (albeit a round one) you get an idea how big those 'little' ones are! (and thier feet!! i love thier enormous feet) we were not going to visit, but decided to anyway.... so pleased we did! anyway, shopping needs doing, will drop in later to catch up xx
EJ now standing on one leg on nest post nearest camera. Chicks should be worried when she comes to leave.
