Daily Update (LG Diary) Tuesday 15th June

Hi everyone, been an eventful day, 7 fish in all, chicks have been eating all they can and are getting bigger by the day.

All peaceful on the nest and EJ looks to be getting some sleep.

Happy watching, see you in the morning.

  • As I'm watching the chicks having a lovely feed, I'm listening to a song thrush outside here, and also watching two goldfinches on my seed feeder .... absolute magic!!!

What brilliant half time entertainment DjoanS.  :-)

Now this is what I call orderly feeding.  Not a pinged pea in sight.

  • WOW Chick # 1 grabbed the tail .

EJ had to offer the tail back a couple of times when  it dropped it. However  after much help from EJ  Chick #1 managed to raise it's head to swallow it.

EJ is such a great mother. When a chick decides to try something she doesn't pass judgement that it is to young to try that. She shows it how and helps it succeed.

  • I had to go away for the last hour as we had a visitor and of course I missed the latest delivery.  Good news though so Odin is up to 5 fish today I believe (correct me if I am wrong) so feeling a lot happier now.  Hope that it is not foggy tomorrow morning at LG so that Odin can deliver an earlier breakfast.  EJ now trying to put them to bed but I don't think chick 1 wants to go just yet.

Chick # 1 isn't ready to sleep yet it is   savoring it's new found skill of swallowing the tail. :)

  • It was great watching Chick # 1 master swallowing the tail.

Maybe some has a clip of the last part of this feed.

The chick grabbed it from EJ and tried to swallow it , but could not do it. EJ picked up the tail and tore a bit off of it to make it smaller and offered it back to the chick. This time  it dropped the tail, LOL  EJ picked it up again an offered it to the chick who finally raised it's head to swallow it.

As I said earlier EJ is such a great mother. If a chick tries to do something she doesn't pass judgement that it is too young to do that. She helps it succeed.
