Daily Update (LG Diary) Tuesday 15th June

Hi everyone, been an eventful day, 7 fish in all, chicks have been eating all they can and are getting bigger by the day.

All peaceful on the nest and EJ looks to be getting some sleep.

Happy watching, see you in the morning.

Know more about mammal development than birds, but I would think that, although they need a lot to eat now, they can sustain themselves better between feeds now they are bigger - their gut will be longer so the food will travel further and they will absorb more goodness from each feed.  None of them is showing any sign of being undernourished, so we do not need to worry.

I would think you are probably right original goldfinch.  They are indeed not showing any signs of being under-nourished and I am sure if they are hungry we would hear a lot more noise from EJ.  All quiet on tne nest at the moment, chicks in a heap and having a little doze.  EJ just looking around but thankfully the intruder that was around earlier has moved off for now.

  • Afternoon ValC have a wonderful time when you go to LG.  I believe you are a volunteer so hope you get lots of good views of this wonderful osprey family.  After saying the last 3 years that I would love to volunteer I have decided that come November when I can apply I will be doing just that.  Hoping I will be accepted as I long to see ospreys live and in the flesh.  I am completely under their spell after 3 years of watching via webcams and it has to be my dream now to go and see them.

Morning Margobird - I'm not sure about the size, as EJ already had the fish when I came through after hearing all the excitement on the nest! However the feed lasted about 15 minutes so it must have been a decent enough size.

Thanks DjolanS have just logged in again after finishing what I should have done this morning when I couldn't leave the screen until Odin came with a fish.  As it lasted 15 minutes it must have been a good size.  Hopefully he will deliver another soon although EJ and chicks all very relaxed at the moment.

  • Good luck with your LG applicatin when November comes Margobird.  Well, I've got to go fishing now. Er, shopping - I was hoping Odin would appear with a fish before I went. Never mind. I look forward to a second fish report on my return.

  • Another fish ... EJ was so anxious to get the fish she nearly took poor Odin's feet off!

  • Fish at 1:55pm.

If nothing goes right, go left! :-)

  • All lined up lol

  • How strange ... EJ started feeding the chicks at the far side ... then she walked the fish round to the near side .... and started feeding them again! Maybe she thought they were too near the edge of the nest. And now she's hiding the feeding :-(

  • Can hardly beleive it but I missed the delivery again.  Lovely view of EJ so can't see whether they are all getting fed but from the excited little feeding noises I suspect they are.  EJ really close the the microphone so you can actually hear her tearing the fish off.

  • I was outside, so I missed it too, margobird.   Still, really pleased that once again Odin has come up with the goods.  Lots of excited noises as they all tuck in.
