Daily Update (LG Nest) Monday 14th June

All quiet, chicks are chunnering, EJ is fidgity because the chicks keep wriggling.

Been a bit of an eventful day

Weather looks dry at present so lets hope today brings some sunshine for a change.

Happy watching to you all from overseas.   See you in the morning.

  •  SANDY -  remember last year he brought two fish in in fifteen minutes.  Don;t know if that was possible without him having  - dare I say it - ,pinched it from another bird.????

LOL I wouldn't put anything past Odin to provide well for his family ! Look at all the fish he caught in the rain.

  • Another magnificent days fishing for OdIn, 7 fish equalling this seasons best daily total I believe. EJ will only go fishing if she feels secure enough to leave the chicks and if Odin keeps bringing in 7 a day she will not need to.

  • lol.  I have seen a photograph of an Osprey emerge from fishing with a fish in each tallon. Amazing photograph.

I like to think thats how Odin did it last year,

Susan: The trouble is I'm not sure that anyone knows exactly where Odin fishes. We are pretty certain that EJ goes to the fish farm as she normally hauls back a whale of a rainbow trout.

For my money I think that EJ will start fishing in a week or so, as others have said, once she is confident of leaving them alone on the nest. Looking at them now I don't think that will be long in coming!

She did last year Alan, look at 21st June lshe went off and came back with one, Odin was doing well enough with 6 fish each day. It was the 17th the year before.  As I said last night though, with the intrusions at the nest recently maybe not so soon. She's proved over the years to be a very Independent Lady, lol

  • Thanks, everyone, for the posts and pics.  I've only been able to pop in and out today and it's great to know what's happening.  The chicks really are ENORMOUS! I agree with those who think #1 and #2 are female and 3 is male, although he/she is 3 days younger than #2.  Time will tell!.

  • oops don't know hat happened there,  That was just a small table I cut and paste from last years June Blog.

  • Oops - what's happened here?

  • Hi everyone.

Thanks for all the updates and pics.  What a great job by Odin bringing in 7 fish.  Those chicks are huge now, and getting bigger by the day.  :-)
