Weekly Chat, Sunday June 13, 2010

Morning everyone and welcome to a new week!  Last week's Weekly Chat ended with some interesting entries and very interesting links (wonderful pix of swan giving cygnets a ride, courtesy of Lindybird, and, thanks very much Alan; another perspective on those oil-covered pelicans - good news too!).  OG: Not rushing and dashing; kids are here and headed to bed early for ultra-early departure. Margobird: Thanks for update on Hope and Lily.

Gather USA/England draw was result of bungle by England goalkeeper?

  • Well, Heather, I guess we are the oldies now!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good afternoon all have not been able to blog for a while but have been keeping up with all the news and have been very grateful for all the pictures of animals and flowers that have been put up.  I still watch Springwatch but I also think that they have lost there way at times. I have just had a clean out of my trouser supply and sent quite a few pairs that fitted me a few years ago to the charity shop will have to do the same with shirts soon but one thing at a time.  Managed to get grass cut this morning as I thought I would be required to take SiL back and forward to hospital the rest of the week but got a phjone call from her this afternoon that BiL was being transfered to our local hospital which we can walk to in fifteen minutes. We weren't going to see him today as SiL was getting a stair lift fitted today for when he comes home. They are still contemplating whether to give him radiotherapy or not as the consultant says that if the tumor comes back there will be nothing they can do. We still haven't been told when he is likely to get home so nothing can be planned at the moment. I like this blog as it gives you the opportunity to share your troubles and aspirations with people who are willing to listen and give you encouragement and often solution to your problems and for this thank you all.

  • My OH is addicted to Ginger Cake and I still make it to his Mum's recipe - occasionally - it has half a pound of butter in it----- As you will realise, its not gingerbread, its a loaf cake with stem ginger in it.

The boat in my bath was orange in colour, just a simple kind of rowing boat shape, not sure if we were poor or just that my parents didn't really see toys as necessary. Do remember though that my Dad made me a doll's house and a baby cot for my dolls. Shrieking from EJ just now ? intruder around? Will investigate

  • Personally I think anyone who doesn't speak to wildlife  should be carted away to the "funny farm ha ha he he ho ho" ( ok who remembers that ) I always say good morning to the sparrows and tell them to stay while I brush Dillon so they can have his hair for their nest. Talking of Dillon, he was at the vets on Friday as he has a lump on his lip that we were concerned about. She said it was an infection and he is on antibiotics, but if it did not go after a week he may need it removed.thing is, it is in an awkward place and after he has eaten he likes to wipe his muzzle on the grass. Yesterday he came for a cuddle after doing this and I  then noticed a lot of blood on my trousers ( one of my better pairs of course ) so I think think he may need it removing after all. Vet again on Friday so we will take take their advice, but I can see my wallet grumbling again

Thanks for filling me in on Steve’s potatoes – I saw reference to the remaining mess in the truck on the Chat Blog but had missed the detail.  Is there any way of seeing his earlier posts if we miss a day?

OG: At the end of each of his daily blogs, there's a button that says "Older Posts" underlined. You can click that to access prior days. Here's the link to the potato pics (you have to scroll down). http://bigrigtravels.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-06-15T05%3A42%3A00-06%3A00

Edit: Hmmm. He left TK the Truck Kat with his mother.

Lindybird: I so loved those gorgeous poppies.

    Have a good day, all.

  • George - So glad that you have updated us with things. Your SIL will want to do anything and everything that makes her feel positive, and of course, that is what we would all do. However, sometimes we don't always hear the real message that the doctors are giving us. Such a difficult time and as someone who has been there, I can only empathise.

  • George – so pleased that you have been able to keep up with Osprey news and all our ramblings on this thread!  Good to hear that hospital visiting will be easier now your BiL is transferred locally.  Radiotherapy or not is quite a dilemma for someone with other conditions – perhaps they should let the patient decide.  I am glad that you find this blog helpful, and feel you can share your concerns with us.  Be blessed.

Heather – my Preston Gingerbread is more like cake – very sweet and sticky.  My boat was blue, red and yellow with white fittings.  My dolls’ house was made by my “Uncle” (Auntie's boyfriend) and decorated by my Auntie.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good evening all pleased there has been another fish but hope Odin will oblige again.  EJ shouting at the moment so I wonder if he is around.  He is and a fish is delviered, well done Odin.  EJ soon knows when there is a fish around.  All 3 lined up and Odin watching.  Hopefully they will all get some.

  • OG When you have a minute, perhaps you could share your gingerbread recipe? As I said, OH's mother's recipe has so much butter in it, I fear for his arteries----- I think gingerbread as opposed to MIL's recipe would be a little healthier?!

  • Meant to say dibnlib hope Dillon gets on OK on Friday.
