The wind had died down, no rain, hurah, and EJ is getting some kip with the occasional wriggle from the chicks.
Happy viewing to all our overseas watchers and see you in the morning.

EJ preening and the chicks are having a stretch and lookabout. Staying huddled together, probably not that warm.
Thanks Cirrus: have to go out myself later, so hope so too.
Yes it is, communication between mother and young, so touching to see. EJ's been on another stick mission and has just returned. Trying to arrange large stick and lands it straight on the chicks. One of the chicks had hold of the stick and wouldn't let go until mum yanked it of it and has now placed it at the side.
EJ settled down with chicks half under half out.
Unknown said: Cirrus: I'm very interested to know exactly when you thought that wasn't enough fish when the chicks were fully grown last year. Both my recollection of events and the records show that there was a surfeit of fish from this time onwards (mid June) and no-one went hungry. Still all quiet on the nest.

Hi Sandy,
From 21st June 2009 onward EJ went fishing.
See http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/blogs/lochgartenospreys/archive/2009/06/22/EJ-rewrites-the-textbooks_2620_again_2100_.aspx
When Henry was taking care of EJ she never had to go fishing.

Poor EJ: the chicks are restless, and won't sit still underneath her. Tried to capture the scene, but they keep moving about !
.......there is always a bit of a chick or two, sticking out somewhere !!
I missed your interesting conversation. I have been noticing how little EJ has been left with to eat recently, apart from the fish tail. I presume Odin may be catching the odd fish for himself.
Good morning all bit late logging in as I had to go out shopping as I won't be going anywhere for a couple of days after tomorrow. So pleased to see 2 fish delivered so far and thanks for all the pics and observations. EJ getting very serious about more furniture as the chicks get more active. I always smile when she is trying to brood them and there are bits of each chick stuck out all over the place.. Hoping to catch Odin coming in with a fish soon so I can watch a feed. I must admit there were times last year that it was a bit upsetting to watch but this year all is much calmer at mealtines. They only make trouble when EJ takes a comfort break and then act as though they have been the perfect children when EJ returns.

This fish debate, personally I would like to think that if EJ felt she really had to, then she would probably go and fish for herself. As the chicks are still vulnerable I expect it will be a little while before she does that if she feels the need.
At present Odin seems to be bringing home the goods, its probably not good to have overweight chicks but build up their stamina once they have grown their adult feathers and are beginning to think about fledging.
I'm sure Mother Nature will play her part in all of this.
