The wind had died down, no rain, hurah, and EJ is getting some kip with the occasional wriggle from the chicks.
Happy viewing to all our overseas watchers and see you in the morning.

Think that's one of the things that makes this interesting viewing: how much of their behaviour is instinctive, and how much do they modify it according to the circumstances, i.e. the amount of fish caught by the male, the weather, the strength of the individual chicks, etc.
Cirrus I know what you are saying but EJ has never shown too much learning from year to year. Henry did a magnificent job in feeding three chicks in 2004, she never had to catch one fish herself, yet that did not stop her running off with OVS in 2005. Same again in 2007.
Tiger Signature
Cirrus: I'm very interested to know exactly when you thought that wasn't enough fish when the chicks were fully grown last year. Both my recollection of events and the records show that there was a surfeit of fish from this time onwards (mid June) and no-one went hungry.
Still all quiet on the nest.
How depressing Tiger :( -. Since I'm female I'm allowed to say this : Women can be such fools.
We can be bad at picking out the right man for the job, sometimes, Cirrus ; - ))
Sandy, hi . I'm sure there was enough fish to ensure each chick lived. I'm talking about appetites that went without, and chicks feeling hungry. Djoan remembers the situation ,
EJ off for a flyabout, chicks doing what youngsters do. 2 facing one - will there be a scrap - no. Back she comes with a small stick.
EJ nips off for a comfort break: the chicks stir, and eye each other up, but decide to be peaceful, thank goodness. Eventually they fall back into a heap again and are rejoined by EJ.

I’m looking at a beautiful back full of feathers and a rump or two of wriggling chicks. :) EJ has just flown for a short break and I notice even youngest now has the ‘golden nape look’.
Well, since it’s Thursday, it’s Brenda’s day so off I shall trot off shortly with lunch - so I wish EJ and Odin an intruder-less day, the chicks lots of fish (which they will get, of course) and all you fans some really delightful viewing.
Love the way EJ gives a welcoming 'chirp' to the chicks as she lands, Lynette.
