Such is the chaos the Ying Tong cyber attack has caused that I only just noticed there was no new Weekly Chat! I don't know how much opportunity we'll get to post on this new thread but at least we can all curse the perpetrators en masse!
Happy New Week!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
WENDY Are there any other types of bull terriers i.e. Welsh or Scottish?
Probably not Dibnlib but that's what's on her paperwork....
Actually just looking at the list of terrier breeds some have amazing prefixes so maybe they needed to boost their stature:-)))
Have just put ""like" on your post, George, because it's nice to hear from you. But sorry that there is more illness in the family. Good that you've got your travel arrangements sorted for going North, you can look forward to your holiday there, now.
I've been out with all the bags for the charity, plus called into M&S for some of their nice food. Then off to Sainsbugs: very quiet in there as it was time for the mums to collect the schoolchildren, must make a note of it and do it again! Now have the ironing to do as put it off this morning, urgh.
Hi, all. Been reading what was posted since the weekend “blip”.
Brenda – no wet weather here (well, there was one short shower, but not enough for garden) so watering continues; we try to limit it to every second day, otherwise we get no free time in the evenings.
Linda – still more sorting out, I see; good that you got something for some of the vinyls. I hope the gritted Geranium strategy works. Sorry Bonnie spotted the Bunny – and I hope she will forget about it, but somehow don’t think she will! Weather looks very settled again for a few days, so should be good for your trip to the caravan; I hope you find the right holiday clothes in the right suitcase!
Wendy – sorry Daisy decided on a digging exercise with a Hosta, especially after a good walk! I hope you will be pleased with the new fridge-freezer; ours is a tall “side-by-side” model and we have been very happy with it.
Annette – I see a few short posts from you – does that mean you are back to rushing round between times? I hope your lunch trip was good today.
Heather – you have been very busy; sorry to see that OH feels he is slowing down, but you can assure him many younger folks need to take a break between jobs! Sorry the deafness is also getting worse.
George – pleased you have your plans – and railway ticket – in place for the trip to LG. Sorry about SiL’s sister; pleased you can help out with transport and shopping.
We had a good day Sunday; we had a cake stall at church – intended for refreshments for the Harbour Festival which had been cancelled due to high winds! The jazz duo in the evening was excellent, but sadly not a good attendance (maybe too many events over the one weekend). Monday we were very busy indoors and out. I had a very painful night with an arthritic flare-up almost everywhere, but especially in my right hand, so have done very little today, and everything is less painful now. I have a Rheumatology appointment tomorrow, so am hoping for an injection in my hand; this is after my Ophthalmology check-up, so a busy day, and then another Arts Festival event in the evening.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi all, what's all the fuss about - a cyber attack!!!!! seems to be ok at present.
Just caught up briefly with whats been happening. Got back on Sat. from a week away in N.Wales, cottage was in the middle of nowhere. Had to travel 4 miles to the nearest shop even though they said one was in a neighbouring village, we looked, it had closed down just like the one in the village we were nearest. That's life. Such a shame those small communities could not sustain at least one shop between them.
Managed to visit the Glaslyn site but found it difficult to see much with the scopes they provide as it was over a mile away. Still did see where the nest was and of course the live streaming was great.
OH has done all three lawns since home, back one looked like a small hayfield. Still going for dressing changes but getting there.

Evening all:
WendyB: I suspect recipients of our EBTs do the smiling.
George: I see we crossed posts yesterday. Lovely that you've got tickets (and saved money!) to head north. Do hope you get a good view of the LG duo. Also hope they can stabilize your SiL's condition - you always seem to be on hand when your family needs someone to fetch and carry. Very good of you - but take care of yourself too.
Lindybird: Hope you have some lovely sunny weather during your few days away.
OG: Not really rushing about, but some friends I didn't see/talk to much before and during family visit, so now playing catch up with them. Train trip was relaxing and pleasant; lunch too. It was an easy get together as she took the Metro from Long Beach - no driving for either of us. You are putting me to shame with all your gadding about!
Lynette: My sister lives several miles from nearest store - quite a few more than 4 miles I think. Three lawns? How many do you have? Good to hear your OH is coming along...
Had a nice lunch with friend at Union Station in Los Angeles. We were walking back to the trains and heard piano music, so wandered back to the main concourse and found a young man playing Chopin on an upright. The piano was parked there with a sign inviting anyone to play it. He was really good and had attracted a small crowd. It was a really lovely surprise in the midst of all the to-ing and fro-ing. Very civilized. :-)
Have a good Wednesday all. Hope we hear from AQ soon and that Margo is getting plenty of webcam time in between dinners out.
Good Morning, All. Glad you enjoyed your Welsh break, Lynette - agree that rural shops are few & far between, there: we stock up in the big supermarkets in the towns, and buy milk and papers in petrol stations when there. (We are on a tiny caravan site and have no shop either there or nearby).
Annette - Your lunch out sounded good, plus a delightful bonus of a musical interlude!!
OG - So sorry to hear that you've had a painful time, hope it's easing now. You sound to have as many clinical appointments as my Friend, who has several every week. She is at present trying to stabilise her blood for her Warfarin clinic.
AQ - Thinking of you, hope the fencing problems are sorted, too.
Did the ironing last evening whilst watching the Chelsea Flower Show on TV - very nice but they spend ages on interviews, but never enough time on plants & flowers!
Off to the bank, the shops and the hairdressers this morning! Cleaning my dirty house this afternoon!
Good Morning Everyone. Just a white sky this morning. Managed to dry all my washing outside yesterday. We go to our daughter's tomorrow morning for a few days, to see them and our son, who arrived there, this morning. His wife doesn't arrive until tomorrow. I have already done the polishing of the furniture and vacuumed the bedrooms, yesterday. Just need to vacuum downstairs today and do some food shopping. OH cut the grass yesterday, so we seem to be organised. Just a small wash in the machine right now. Will look in later.
