Hi folks: I'll be taking OH out to dinner for his birthday tonight, so will be MIA for a bit. Take care. All quiet on the nest now.
EJ now calling, sounds like an alarm call and is up protecting those chicks. Could be for food though
.Perhaps she can see Odin eating.

It's all been rather serene and uneventful on the nest today and a perfect introduction for the little ones. A supper fish from Odin would cap a perfect day. I hope that the third egg is not long in hatching - wouldn't want it to be too far behind the first two.
Glad someone has changed stations to radio willow warbler.
LOL Sandy, It is good to hear the Willow warbler for a change
Looks like a lovely clear evening now at LG. EJ contentedly sitting on her chicks and egg. I'm off to watch Michael Buble. Will look in later but not post. Catch up again tomorrow evening after work. Bye for now. Emma
EJ calling - still 3rd egg there, not hatched yet. Now what was that about
Brenda H Thanks very much
Hi everyone. I haven't had a chance yet to catch up on what's been happening while I was asleep. When I switched my computer on this morning, I went straight to the nest cam for my morning fix. I am getting so frustrated at seeing such poor vision from such an excellent setup. The over-exposure has nothing to do with the direction the camera is facing. Someone managed to adjust the camera properly before the power went off, and we were enjoying excellent vision, with more colour and sharper detail, without adversely affecting our night vision. When the power went off, the camera reverted to its default settings, which are hopeless! I am very grateful to the LG team for providing such a wonderful opportunity for us to follow the lives of our wonderful osprey family. But I do get very frustrated with such poor quality vision when it should be able to be fixed by a simple camera adjustment.
To demonstrate, this first pic is of EJ and Odin at the side of the nest, looking down at their eggs. I grabbed it because it is an excellent shot to show the difference in head markings from the top and back of the birds, but in its original state it's nearly impossible to tell them apart.
The second is the same shot, but with the exposure reduced. In my editing program, it's called reducing the gamma. This can, and should, be done with the camera controls. Now it's much easier to see that it's Odin on the left in the shot, and EJ on the right.
Smiles, Jan.
Cuckoo calling his night call. Heavy shower at LG, EJ looking a tad soggy.
