Thought I'd start a separate thread for the posting of news, updates, pictures etc. from the nest at the Loch of the Lowes. Now that the first chick has hatched at Loch Garten the Daily Update page is going to get too unwieldy if it is used for news from LotL as well as LG, and the "News From Other Nests" is getting pretty full as well.
A small sequence of pics taken from video by watcher 2 of one of the chicks practice diving. Not terrible clear but one gets an idea of what is happening.

Its chick 1 on the nest then, Sandra. doesn't he look handsome.
Thanks Sandra and Lynette for the pics. Lovely close up of chick one. I think you right about intruders it was laid flat in the nest for some time.

Just looked in again. Nothing happening - ENS - back later
9:10. The camera is too high to see who is on the nest. It is one of the young.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Too low I mean .
Hi All. Thanks for keeping the updates going and especially the pix of youngster practising his/her fishing skills. I'm heading off on hols very early Friday so will doubtless return to an empty nest on 20th August. Nonetheless I am amazed at the damage to the symbolic egg in these last few days given its survival intact for so many months. Nature has resolved the question I posed at the centre only last week about what to do with the egg. It is now in pieces! Hope you have many, many happy hours viewing to come and I look forward to 'seeing' you towards the end of the month. Emma
Morning/evening all: Have been busy all evening and just logged on before I hit the sack to see - an empty nest! Hope Tuesday has some good viewing......
Looks like chick 2 on the nest with large fish. Didn't see who brought it
