Well another day begins with the night-time. EJ is fidgiting again and rolling the eggs although the chicks sound quiet now and Lady at LOTL is having a moment - fidgiting a bit but now settled down.
All you early watchers I hope you find that EJ's 1st chick will have hatched. Capture it if you can and we will find out in the morning.
Goodnight all.

Aaargh! I missed it again, as had to leave the room. Thanks for pics of newbie, everyone. I'm off out now for half an hour but should be here for most of today, so will post interesting pics if possible. Have an enjoyable day, All.
Good morning. How could I have slept in!!! So we have our first baby. The talking egg no more!! Loks like the weather is good today in the highlands.
Must go and wake up properly. Well done to the night shift and all the piccy folk!! It's Odin I want to see. He;s such a silly boy with all his shuffling and peering oddly at the eggs yesterday and I mean that fondly!!
Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.
Well, there is certainly ONE egg talling Tish. Whether at LoTL or EJ I can't quite tell yet
EDIT it's EJ's egg LoTL has turned itself off again
My estimate of hatching is around midnight or just after. I posted this at 12.31am.
"Sounds quiet now, EJ more restful than before, but still wide awake. She keeps moving from side to side. The chick has started up again, noise is softer, sort of chirping, rather than peeping, When she raised her body just now, it looked as if she was moving something just under her breast, impossible to identify anything, though. Now she has setttled again."
The night vision makes it difficult to make out any details, but you can note my comment about moving something, just the way she gently moves the chicks into position. I wonder if the LG night duty people have got any more info.
EDIT: In fact I can hear the same soft, quiet chirping right now.

There was a crunch sound and EJ jumped and looked down! She just did it again

You could well have got it right, jsb. It will be interesting to see what LG says.
I see Odin hasn't returned with a fish yet. That chick and Mum are going to be hungry.
There goes that chirping/squeaking noise.
Good morning little bobblehead!
EJ trying not to overbalance:
AH, there you are
