Hi to all those who watch during the night. EJ seems settled and appears to be dozing off. All as it should be. Only one fish delivered again yesterday but it was big!!!!!!!!!! Odin brought it in whole, EJ went off with it and came back after having her share and presented Odin with the rest. Lovely.
Night, night till the morning.

Good ol Odin missed the 3rd one but so pleased he has been able to fish better today. Water must not be as ruffled with the wind and so make it easier to fish. Making up for lost time.
Thanks all, for compliments. Wonderful bit of birdsong at the moment, as Super Odin dozes on the nest. Anyone name the bird ??
could be a songthrush or blackbird maybe?
Golly, now we have the distant sound of a Klaxon or horn sound, possibly from the railway?? Odin is listening, and to my mind, looking a little puzzled - "what the heck bird is that ??" !!
Re fishing/daylight discussion.
Basically, why do they migrate and did ospreys always migrate?
The answer lies in 'archaeozoology', and Annette hit on the word 'fossils' which will hold the key, I suspect. I shall in due course read some more about it, on such webpages as those in this Google search, for those interested, but it is rather heavy going and the sites are in different languages

The above is for Firefox........the search was 'Archaeozoology osprey Pandion haliaetus'.

Odin calling, perhaps he can see EJ. Will she have eaten all the fish or bring some back for him. A nd in she flies with some of the fish left and gives it to Odin Good girl, After communicating, Odin flies off and EJ gets straight down again on those eggs.
EJ returns with some of the fish ... Odin takes it gratefully and flies off to eat his share ... how lovely is that :-)

You have to marvel at the communication between EJ and Odin. Absolutely superb teamwork.
Just watched Odin call and EJ returns with some fish, which he takes and leaves. Do you think he can see EJ is returning or is it a ploy to make her return before she finishes the fish ?
Missed that as supposed to be preparing our dinner. Nice pic of EJ sitting in her mossy kingdom in the evening sun:
