Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Diane: I was watching telly the other night - I think it was Nat. Geo's Naked Science: Iceland Volcano Eruption, which showed lightning during the eruption. It's on again tomorrow night. Fascinating.

  • Volcanocam 2 out of 3 offline, only option 2 is working...completely cloud covered, so nothing to see.

  • One man who's not happy about a potential Conservative-Lib Dem coalition is impressionist Rory Bremner. "I'm rubbish at Cameron and Clegg," he says, adding - in character - that he's hoping William Hague seizes power in "a tremendous coup".

  • Every time I look at Cameron I cant get the image of Data in Star Trek out of my head.

  • Just dined on beef in Guinness with Welsh potatoes, carrots & broccoli. Followed by caramel swirl from 'Chocolat'. The first course was cooked by Dau#1 and delivered despite her not feeling well. It was YUM. The dessert is very rich and I am saving some for supper. Tomorrow, I promise, truly, I will think about my tummy roll and a diet. Dau#2 gave me a mug which declares I am one in a million, plus a book of Mother thoughts. I’ve had a wonderful lazy day. Thank you Annette & Diane for your wishes. Thank you Diane for your healing thoughts for m-i-l - she must be feeling a little better as she has been having an altercation with one of the carers!

  • Warm spring morning – much less wind.  Enjoyed eavesdropping on overnight conversation.  AQ – sorry to hear your MiL is now in hospital – praying peace for you all.  What are Welsh potatoes?  Diane – still can’t get the best volcano cam this morning – got the second one, but too distant and cloudy to really know what’s going on.  Can’t find any news site giving update on the actual activity.  Earthquake in Aceh, Indonesia, again.  Earth is definitely groaning!  And you have frost – quite late, isn’t it, after being so warm?

Day must start here – a bit late it may seem – but have already disposed of the ironing pile!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello All & Happy Mothers Day to those of you in USA and AUS.

Sounds like yours has started well, AQ!   Nice menu.  You are allowed a dispensation to eat what you like today, as long as you go back onto the diet sometime soon!  Sorry to hear that your m-in-law is poorly, but when they start arguing with the carers you know its not too serious.

I was late coming on today as not been feeling too well for a couple of days, so had a bit of a lay in bed this morning. (nothing serious, honest).  Sunny & bright here this morning, so hoping to go for a walk and have a coffee somewhere.

  • Morning, OG:   I'm sooo  impressed that you have done the ironing so early, and on a Sunday, too. Looks lovely and bright at LG this morning too, so hope that everyone in the country is enjoying a bit of sun.

  • Diane:    Keep laughing at the idea of EJ & Odin chirping the tune from 'Close Encounters' -  hilarious! Glad you enjoyed the Osprey Party discussion - we have to make fun of the politics here, as its all just so serious and very very booooring!  Not surprised that the impressionists have a job with some of the politicians, as a lot of them have absolutely no personalities, and the reason it has been such a boring election is that there is no one from any party who has charisma or anything like excitement about them.

  • Still only 2 peregrines at Brighton. Being fed now:
