Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Sorry, but its no better today:  have spent ages and  a g e s  trying to get on here at all, and still can't get the webcam. Glad to hear you have had a relatively relaxing day, Annette, with your roses and strawberries! Now on the 'last lap' of the painting job -  good to hear its nearly done & you can stand back and admire your work before the next project!

I'm off on shopping mission for weekend food, so will come back on later, website permitting. (quite sunny here this morning, no rain forecast)

  • I will say Good Morning to you All  now, in case I can't get through again later.

  • Tried to post after my earlier one and found it just sat there, trying to connect. I hope this is not an omen, like last year, whenever there was something important to watch on the nest, the system would breakdown.

  • Things are still bad, then.  I can't get the webcam at all today, and sometimes can & sometimes not get the still cam.  Took me ages again to get through to here.

  • Hello all ... the site is so iffy today, every time I go to post on here I can't get :-(      until now!

I just looked at the Derby peregrines and how the chicks are growing ... unfortunately one died, so only 3 left. She's moved them all to the other end, to the right hand camera ... and the first time I looked after she did that I thought something had happened to them all !

  • Shame about losing a chick, but then at least 3 will be easier to feed.  Thanks for nice pic of them.

  • Lindybird - that's very true ... and as their diary page points out, they only need to rear 2 chicks to adulthood during the whole of their breeding life to keep the peregrine population stable.

  • finally managed to get on the site after trying on and off all am. Met postie returning home after am dog walk and he handed us 3 envelopes (all from ERNIE) It was only 3 of the lowest prizes but we were still dead chuffed That will pay for our next outing to Eden Court.

ANNETTE OH has just popped his head in to say that he is only 10 mins from completing the paintwork on the garden railings. Very windy today but once he has finished I think we will go to South Kessock for dog walking and bird watching.

  • Morning all: Got on without much trouble today. Let's hope problem is sorted and not harbinger of things to come when eggs due to hatch, etc.   So windy at LG, even large twigs (or is that an old fish on the right?) are blowing about.

dibnlib: Can your OH pop over and finish my project?  And who is Ernie (lottery??)

Lindybird: Next project?  It's a fun one: narrowing down choices of plants/shrubs for new drought-resistant garden. We are going to have help with that though - there's a woman in town who's done some lovely native garden plantings so we're getting a bit of input from her.

OK! Off to check Trucker Steve, then a bowl of cereal, then pull on totally grotty painting togs and back to work. No peace for the wicked (or anyone these days from what I gather)!

  • dibnlib, well done on the premium bond prizes. It is a long time since either of us have heard from ERNIE. I would think your OH is relieved he has now finished the painting.

Our tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show arrived this morning, so hope the weather improves. (26th May). It is not the place to be if it is raining.
