Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • TerryM    I am glad you have become a fan of ISS spotting. It is quite addictive. I have not seen it too much this time due to weather and other things. However when I saw it on Monday 3rd May it was possibly the brightest pass I have ever seen.

They are getting ready for the very last flight of the shuttle Atlantis tomorrow at 7.20pm BST. See http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap100508.html

Up to date news at  http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html

  • Speaking of Cirrus, where has she gone? And Tish?

  • Hi, all. Storms moving in again here. Sheesh. Just thought I'd give a quick hello before shutting everything down.

Tiger: Thanks for the heads up about the shuttle launch. I have actually set my alarm clock so I won't miss it. :-) By the way, did you see that Jupiter went behind the Sun for a few months, and when it appeared back in view, it was missing one of its giant cloud belts! http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/jupiter-cloud-belt-disappears-100513.html

Alan: I think you're right that the Iceland volcano is producing lava flows again. It's an extraordinary sight. Have a great trip!!!

Lindybird: Picture framing is a racket. Seriously, why should it be so expensive? Loved the little tarsiers. So wish they could be left alone in the wild.

Annette: That is an incredibly beautiful area of the country where Trucker Steve has been traveling. Nearly fell off the chair laughing when you said that the webcam may have shown a trucker (not Steve) enjoying an outdoor "comfort break." LOL Sorry granddaughter is bringing the hyper-doggie instead of good ol' Thunder. Hope you all have a wonderful visit.

Thunder rolling in, lightening crackling now. Night all.

  • Evening all:  Thanks for posts and pix.   It will be quiet these next few days with several folks off on trips.

Tiger: I just printed out ISS viewing opportunities for us over the next few days.  All at reasonable times in the evening.

  • Morning All. Dry, with sunshine this morning, but still very cool.

If I am not too late Alan, do have a great holiday.

I am now off to the hairdressers, then shopping and out for lunch  with OH, so hope to catch up with your chat later today.

  • Morning all.  Won't be watching or commenting much until late in the day.  Tweed and I are off to take part in an agility final at Ireland's biggest agricultural show. (Prince Charles was there on Wednesday.)  Trying to keep the nerves at bay!  Keep the info coming about EJ's and Odin's activities so I can read it up later. Have a good day folks.

  • Morning, all.  Dry but sort of damp here, if you know what I mean. Cloudy, too, so no sun today    : - (

Sorry to hear you are doing battle with the germ demons, Heron77 - perhaps today you are on the winning side, hope so.

Diane:   You do get some amazing storms there, hope that one passed over without shouting at you too much.  Glad your Dad can enjoy the poetry etc.;  I shall write him one if you like.

Got chores and work to do today - also waiting for some important phone calls, so off now to be busy busy but will keep EJ & the nest on in the background as I clatter around. Have a Good Day, All.

(Alan:  Have a wonderful time on your hols in what my mother used to call "Welsh Wales !")

  • patriciat:   Good Luck to you and Tweed !!

  • Annette     Cirrus is on holiday this week.

  • PATRICIAT guess you will have left by now, look forward to hearing how you both did at the dog agility championships.

We both really enjoyed the ballet last night and don't think I caused the lady on my right too much of a problem with sneezing!

Staying in today for a change as we are expecting the delivery of a scarifier between 8.00am and 5.00pm. Knowing my luck it will be 1 min before 5pm or not at all! OH walked Dillon pre work though he is pestering for another from me. Anyway it is giving me the chance to catch up with window cleaning, oven cleaning, defrosting the freezer and other domestics - so back to the kitchen now.
