Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Hey, Annette! I liked "Pichi Richi Railway", too. So sorry that you missed Trucker Steve's drive through the Sierras. I missed it, too. Had a headache this morning, so I slept. I wonder if he'll ever get a new truck? Have been watching all of the news and speculation about Kagan today. And also the news about the failed attempts at stopping the oil leak. What an abomination that is. Now 4 million gallons of oil have leaked.

On a happier note, I went to the store this week for groceries and supplies, and on the way, a beautiful, graceful Great Blue Heron flew right over the car and looked at me! So elegant. They are one of my very favorite birds. I'm off to bed.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday. Good luck to all those travelling.

  • AQ: I have a bit of rheumatoid arthritis, so I can sympathize. I always prefer to travel alone anyway, because I am always interested in different things than other people. I've never been very mainstream. :-) I would truly love to visit Australia. The cultures, the geology, the landscape, and especially the wildlife all fascinate me. Maybe someday...

  • Himself came home, lawn man turned up, casserole needed pre for tea. Then I remembered tomorrow is rubbish + recycling collection day. If I hadn't blithered all morning, I wouldn't be rushing around now missing Program Osprey. Diane there are so many places in the world I would love to visit. I guess I shall have to make do with just a few and TV docs for the rest.

  • Morning All.  Bright again here, but still cold wind. Am off on shopping mission, for picture frames - hope I get some as pictures have been lying around for ages, waiting.

Wrote the poem for a bit of fun but am hoping that I'm wrong and this might be a new era for British politics. They are going to have to take a lot of flak from all sides as they set off into their partnership, but just possibly it might work out well for us and the economy.

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • The Iceland volcano is awe-inspiring this morning.

  • Oh pooh, still sneezing like mad, but will meet OG anyway and say that I completely understand if she and OH want to sit at a separate table. It is bad enough having a cold at home, but 10 times worse when you are on holiday. Remember going to see "The Magic Flute" when stuffed with cold and somehow managing to restrain coughs and sneezes during the performance, hope I manage to do the same at Eden Court tonight. Weather here is cold again with a very blustery wind, promising better for the weekend - about time too. EJ and Odin deserve no less. Thank you Diane for the wonderful volcano pic

  • Good Morning All.

Dibnlib, sorry you are still feeling so full of cold. Hope you are able to enjoy meeting up with OG, but it will be difficult for you, when you don't want to pass on any germs.

  • Morning all,

Been busy trying to sort stuff out for the forthcoming holiday to Wales. Hamish is at the grooming parlour. Have to pick him up soon.

Dibnlib : I hope you feel better soon and your meeting with OG goes well.

Diane : Great volcano pic. I was watching last night and it looked like there was a lava flow down from the vent as the infra red hot spot was moving down to the bottom of the volcano.

Lindybird : Great poem as always. Very clever.

    Joke via LadyP:

Paddy was waiting at the bus stop with his mate and a lorry went by loaded up with rolls of turf. Paddy said "I'm gonna do that when I win the lottery". "What's that" asks Paddys mate. "Send me lawn away to be cut"

  • Morning all: Quick hallo before I don painting clothes.   I love traveling alone too, but I like it because it's so much easier to strike up conversations with people. Hmmm.   Out looking at "media cabinets" with OH yesterday and transfixed by marvellous images of India - on giant flat screen tellies of course!  Going to do some armchair traveling when we finally get one of them.

Lindybird: I have picture frames; just haven't got around to putting all the pictures in them. Sigh. Another project....  Do hope things work out with C&C.

Diane: Volcano cam fascinating, but unless it blows today, I'll be painting with one eye and watching Trucker Steve with the other.  Just went to his site and caught what looks like another trucker across the road possibly answering nature's call!  Or taking an inordinate interest in a tree.  Now the light has changed and maybe it's just a sign. Hmmm.

dibnlib:  Hate to think of you calling across the restaurant to OG -  you could also pick up one of those surgical masks.   :-))  (just kidding.)   I'm sure OG will be just fine.  The Los Angeles Music Center has bowls of Hall's Cough Lozenges at strategic locations for wheezy patrons.

Alan: Glad Hamish will look smart for his trip. Granddaughter and SO arriving next week (we think) to pick up stuff from our garage. Is not bringing lovely old Thunder, who is staying with a friend, but hyperactive, yappy Pepito, who has ADHD and everything else small dogs suffer from. Sigh.  Now that's a high-end landscaping service!  Have a wonderful time and hope the weather is good to you.

OK, off to start painting.  Take care all.

  • Back from shopping mission:  bought a photo frame which was not too expensive and satisfyingly matches near enough to others I have, to add to the family gallery on the bookcase.  However, the picture frame search is turning into a saga - bought Husband 2 smallish pictures of country scenes for his birthday, and thought it would be relatively easy to frame them with standard type photo frames - but no, they are unusual squarish sizes and now looks as if I'll have to spend small fortune having them framed professionally - aargh.  Woman in frame dept.of large famous store, said she had bought 5 pounds worth of exotic pics home from Thailand, but then had to spend over 100 pounds getting them framed!!  Watch this space.

Diane:   Thanks for great picture of the volcano today.

Alan:  Pleased to hear that Hamish almost packed, and looking his best ready for his hols. Like the Paddy joke.
