Weekly Chat, Sunday May 9, 2010

Morning/evening all:  Lovely day here.  Sunny, warm, cactii are beginning to bloom.  Will be keeping one eye on the volcano and the other on EJ while doing other things tonight (hmmm...). Should be interesting.  Lots of chat about the volcano on the last page of the previous week.  Off to start dinner; back later!

  • Margo, Have a terrific holiday and Happy Anniversary to you both. Will think of you having your cofee and cake in St. Mark's Square.

OG, I hope your timetable runs smoothly and you achieve seeing and doing all that you want. Have a brilliant time.

  • Good news that Phoebe has managed to have 2 more chicks after all the earlier dramas.  Let's hope as Margobird says that she can raise these 2 safely.

Sad that the Brighton Peregrines seem to have 2 eggs which are not viable, but at least they seem to have 2 healthy chicks there.

  • Morning all:  Gosh, it's going to be really quiet with so many folks gone for a few days.

Lindybird: Somehow Moby Richard doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?  :-)

OG: Yes, what is Canada Cake (does it include maple leaves?).  And yes, it's a painting day today. Whose idea was this (mine - another bad one!)   And yes again, holidays are hard work.  OH is going to Cambridge in July for a three-week seminar, then up to my sister's in Lincolnshire for a couple of nights before flying back. I was there in 07 and 08; last summer we had the famous remodel, and I can't face planning another major "event" this year. While he's gone, I'm going to sit in the garden, go for walks, read books and not cook dinner for the entire time!  Hoping my sis can pop over later but as I've mentioned before, her OH doesn't like to travel anymore and she doesn't like to leave him these days. Maybe I'll pop over later in the fall for a quick hallo if all else fails.

Margobird/Lindybird: I pack a maximum of two pairs of comfy shoes and dump all the others.

Alan: Is Thunderdog going on vacation too or off to the spa for a doggies-only holiday?  Thanks for Phoebe update.

OK. Now going to check Trucker Steve to see if he gets a new rig then off to dig up painting clothes.  Sigh.

Take care all and for those traveling, have a wonderful time with good weather.

  • Afternoon all I have got my computer back as son and wife who have been with me since Sunday left this morning togo to the airport as the are going to Crete on holiday but I had a phone call from him to say that their flight has been delayed for at least four hours, no reason given, but as they are having problems on the continent with the cloud he said he did no't know if this was the problem and the plane was grounded somewhere.

BiL was supposed to go to the Western General this afternoon for a pre-op examination and he got a telephone call at nine fifteen this morning to tell him that they had booked him into the wrong clinic and that they would phone him with another appointment. This isn,t doing him any favours.

Have gone and treated myself to a flat screen tele with an HD box so I am ready for the World Cup but I will now have to cut down on other purchases. The birds are going to have to  cut down on what they eat as well as me till we recoup some of the money.

Is there a problem with the avatars or is it my system as I am not getting any avatars showing.

  • OG   love the sound of Canada cake, but really hope you get time to deliver it to LG.

  • Hi george g -  There does seem to be a problem with pictures at least today, I can't get any to appear when I include them in a post.  Good for you to get a new TV- you can enjoy the football and everything after it, too. You can cut down on eating, paying council tax & keeping warm for a while, who needs it!!  -- just joking, never mind I'm sure the birds will understand and go next door for something extra. Sorry to hear that they are holding up things for your b.inlaw he ought to be able to get it done with less hassle.

  • Good to hear from you George.  The plane situation is still very unreliable and now BA cabin staff are threatening strikes. It does make you think twice before you book any flights. You are so right about your BiL. He must be so angry and frustrated. You will certainly enjoy your flatscreen TV. I can't imagine not having one now. You are not the only one who can't see the avatars. There have been some problems with pictures today.

  • George G : Well done getting your flat screen tele and HD box. I would not be without mine now and when Lady P is not looking I connect the laptop to it so I can watch the ospreys on the big screen.

Annette : Thunderdog is coming on holiday with us. We always go to doggie friendly cottages and he only has to go to kennels if we go abroad.

Lindybird : Unfortunately due to his special diet , Hamish cant have any treats apart from his food.

  • London Evening Standard has just reported that Gordon Brown is set to resign tonight, as the Lib Dem pact has crumbled....this will allow David Cameron to be Britain's new prime minister.

  • jsb, I am watching the TV. There are suitcases being loaded at the back of  No. 10, but they don't know if they belong to Darling or Brown.

EDIT. They are now saying the cases belong to the police.
