David has replied on blog re pieces of bark - no known significance, just part of bringing what's available for the nest (I guess it's better than old socks and definitely preferable to bits of plastic wrap!)
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I've seen both birds chewing little bits off the bark and swallowing them, and I remember the same thing happening last year. Most birds I know of have little pebbles etc in their crops to help break down and digest their food. I wonder if little bits of the bark will be fed to the chicks to serve this purpose? It will be interesting to see if this happens when the chicks arrive.
Smiles, Jan.
Vision is back at LOtL. Has EJ had her fish yet, I've been doing some jobs in the house so haven't been watching.

That's interesting about the bark Wattle 15, I was wondering whether it might be to build the nest up against the windy weather lately.
Everything looks peaceful at LG and LOtL but I expect EJ is wondering where here breakfast went and it is now lunchtime. Come on Odin and don't let us down.
Odin back, no fish. EJ flies off, Odin nosedives into nest cup.
Terry in Cumbria
EJ looking round to see if Odin is on the horizon, probably wanting some food. In he comes with a big clump of moss and proceeds to try and arrange excisting moss. Right by EJ hoping she will move and he nudges her with his feet and EJ is off and Odin begins to get himself comfy on the eggs. "My turn now"
Afternoon all. Thanks Lynette
change over. Odin flew in, without fish, and he got EJ off the eggs by sticking his bottom in her face! She flew off and he took 3 goes before settling downhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9EdAB_vagk12.30pm
Just logged on to find Odin, in the sunshine, listening to radio chaffinch (although there is some interference from other stations).
