Cirrus - I know exactly how you felt ... I was dreading logging on this morning to see if anything had happened ... and to start with it was all about intruders ... and then it all seemed to get back to normal thank goodness! Now Odin has flown back in to egg-sit again ... excellent :)))

Below is Lindybird's 10:05 picture of Odin.

I think the chest and eye patterns are different. But maybe it's just me. Not important; the important thing is that Odin is accounted for and on the nest.

But compared with this photo, auntie's bird looks more like Odin than Lindybird's photo of Odin.  Slight differnces in stance and lighting can be very confusing.  this morning I had no time to do a screen grab, so I watched hard, and it was EJ's behaviour which convinced me.  Anyway, Odin was clearly around, and now he's doing what he loves best - egg-sitting.  ;-)

Hi, I'm back.    The pic I took at 10.05 am was taken from the stills camera during a highly active (!) sequence of events, you can see that Odin is stretching his neck to the left to watch the intruders flight, and that is probably stretching the feathers of his 'splotch' as we are calling it!  I am 100% convinced that both of my pics are of Odin, which shows that sometimes in some situations their feathers are hard to identify.

EDIT:    During the event at 10.05,  I was watching the whole time and Odin rose from the eggs to flap and shout, during which EJ appeared behind him to join in - hence the picture.

How great is it to see Odin around and in fine form. There I was yesterday, dolling out advice about not worrying and here I am checking at 6.30am to see how things are:))) We get so attached to them.

EJ sitting quietly at the moment.

Just logged on, been out, and seemed to have missed the drama. Judging by your blogs could it be that EJ didn't want to leave the nest at first because intruders were around.  Glad she did take the fish in the end. Is it Odin sitting now or did EJ come back fairly quickly??

Goodf afternoon and thanks for all the news.  I should have looked at the daily update first but couldn't get in.  Had to go out shopping this morning and although I had a quick look before I went could see that there was a lot of worried people.   As you can guess I went otut with a very heavy heart.   I phoned Loch Garten in desparation and spoke to a very nice lady who didn't mind at all being asked about what was happening.  She told me there had been a fish this morning and that as we spoke (12.15) she could see Odin in the tree.  She also told me that ospreys can go 2 days without eating so not to worry.  What nice people they have there and I cried tears of relief for EJ and Odin.  Not a very nice day, cold and damp at LG.

Thanks to everyone for the caputres, I will now have some lunch.  Think I can manage something now as I just feel so relieved.   You certainly need nerves of steel when you get so attached to these majestic birds.
