OK. So we're keeping a special eye out for Odin this morning..... Cirrus: I remember Odin bringing fish very early when I was watching the chicks last year - it's much lighter earlier then so that may account for it. jsb: Thanks for the info re EJ's (non-)returning chicks. BIrds must be a lot like us: We love to see our kids but aren't too keen on having them move back in and taking over the house.
Heard EJ shouting furiously- came back to the screen to find her on her feet, mantling & shouting. Then she sat down on the eggs as if the danger had passed.
EDIT: Well caught, DjoanS ! didn't know that the intruder had actually tried to land.
EJ calling frantically. Then intruder tried to spook her from behind but was quickly seen off.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
How strange ... that intruder seems to have the same head markings as Odin ... very puzzling

Golly, that little songbird sounded in distress ! Wonder what was going on there ?
I thought it was just a mating song... very near the microphone.
Yes, phew!! but perhaps not over yet. That is EJ calling and was protecting eggs a moment ago. Intruder sounds as though it is still around!!

EJ is agitated again - she seems to be seeing something or someone threatening.
Thanks everyone, as usual, and Margbird, thanks for calling the center. Good to know they can go a while without food if they are busy seeing off intruders.
What a day, already.....
EJ calling now, but not loud. 1.52pm
