Hi all: Getting a late start here today. Been busy in the garden all day and now working on getting some of the glue out of the corners of the panes in the French door, so have back to computer.
Previous Weekly Chat's last page included long chatty posts from Lindybird and OG, a link from Djoan to the BOT Barn Owls, which have their first egg, and a colorful greeting from Diane to AQ who's having a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AQ! :-)
I spoke too soon about Trucker Steve's weather - dark clouds building, and he hasn't actually set out yet.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hey OG. Must've been typing my post when yours went up. What lovely photos you're posting - you must be so pleased! Just looked at Trucker Steve and will be interested to see weather developments. Off to get sort of organized. Was planning on the gym at some point, but am rethinking. Diane's suggestion about a day of rest sounds good.
This post is for people who generally don't read the Daily Update. An intruder male osprey has landed on the LG nest today. Odin was not in the area, and EJ had to defend the nest. Gary has posted an anxiety-producing video of the encounter on page 4 of today's Daily Update at 3:16 PM.
I remember that someone had requested a post if something important happened on the Daily Update.
EDIT: LG has now confirmed that the intruder was a female still looking for a nest and a mate. But Odin had to defend the nest from a male this afternoon, too.
Hey Diane: I've been watching EJ - missed the intruder except for Gary's videos - and now EJ is sounding unhappy again.
In the meantime, trying to clean up chicken for dinner tonight and watching Trucker Steve, who's driving through pretty country in Tennessee.
All this Extreme Ironing talk has me wracked with guilt, as have been out walking with Husband and Dog, followed by 'resting' on the couch, all the while knowing that there is a menacing pile of ironing hidden in the spare bedroom, waiting for me. I promise I'll do it tomorrow, honest. Reminded me of some years ago when I had a neighbour who was quite a fan of sunbathing in the summer: she sorted her problem of the ironing pile by running a lead through the french windows, repositioning the TV, and watching the whole of Wimbledon whilst ironing in the garden in her bikini!
Lindybird : Not so sure I approve of ironing in the garden. Think I may have to set up an exclusion zone:)
Came across this eagle owl cam :

Thanks for eagle owl cam, Alan, do love owls, too!

I like the idea of ironing in the garden - I could hang the ironed clothes on hangers on the guttering instead of having to run them back to the bedroom closet immediately or bunch them on cabinet door handles in the kitchen.... Lest we not forget, Phoebe the hummingbird is at it again: Two eggs right now. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/Hummingbird-Nest-Cam
Hello Annette thanks for the update on Phoebe. I looked at the nest yesterday but didn't know how many eggs there were. I so hope she is successful this time after having lost the last 4 chicks. She doesn't know when to stop does she.
