Weekly Chat, Sunday April 25, 2010

Hi all: Getting a late start here today. Been busy in the garden all day and now working on getting some of the glue out of the corners of the panes in the French door, so have back to computer.

Previous Weekly Chat's last page included long chatty posts from Lindybird and OG, a link from Djoan to the BOT Barn Owls, which have their first egg, and a colorful greeting from Diane to AQ who's having a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AQ!  :-)

  • Thanks original goldfinch yes it is quite good that I could choose when it was carried out.  The only things is I received an appointment by phone for June 8 and I had completely forgotten that I am doing a Donkey Carer Day at the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth.  Did one last year as OH's gift for my birthday which is in December.  I enjoyed it so much I asked for the same gift again. Had to cancel this morning and make it for another day so now it will be carried ou on June 11 at 9.00 in the morning which is actually better because the original appointment was for 4.00 in the afternoon, so I don't have to sit and worry aout it all day.

  • Morning all ... just back from an early doctor appointment ... yet another blood pressure check ....aaaaargh!!

Wattle15 - thanks for yur birthday greetings ... and AQ for the lovely birthday pic of your grevillea - it looks like a conservatory plant for this country! ... and your meal out sounds perfect ... including the funny ending.

Margobird - glad you got your appointment sorted to suit you ... I always prefer appointments for first thing in the morning ... less chance of delay! Your Donkey Carer Day sounds brilliant ... I love donkeys nearly as much as birds :))

Thanks everyone else for chat etc

    Take care

  • DjoanS hope your blood pressure check was OK.  The Donkey Carer Day is a truly magical experience.  To be up close and personal with these wonderfully gentle creatures is just lovely.  Can't believe how people can treat them so cruelly but they do, some heartbreaking stores I can tell you.  I am looking forward to seeing a foal called Ashley who is an orphan, his mother died giving birth so he was bottle red for quite a while and had company for another foal and its mother.  He is doing well now and all thanks to the wonderful work they do there.

  • Afternoon all,

Thanks for all the chat and pics. All excellent  as usual.

Not a lot going on today. The sun is shining at the moment but it is cooler than yesterday and showers forecast for later.

The white tailed eagles chicks in Estonia have hatched:

  • Good afternoon Alan thanks for catching the fish delivery at LG, had been watching and listening most of the morning and was beginning to worry about the lack of a fish.  True to form I logged off and have only just looked again to see your note.

Thanks also for the link to the first chicks in Estonia.  there is a lovely shot of the proud parents looking on.

  • Supposed to be wet, but mainly sunny – clouds seem to be passing by on their way to Moffat – surprise, surprise!  Paused during preparing a charity mailing this afternoon as I didn’t say anything this morning – but I did read.  AQ – spectacular bloom on your Grevillea!  Meal out sounds excellent.  Annette – you “sound” tired recently – I hope you are ok.  Diane – sorry your lovely fresh food diet has become boring!  Hope you can improve it without losing the healthy effects.  Margobird – I think our pigeons hit the window because they are too heavy to get airborne after stuffing themselves at the feeders!  DjoanS – I hope the BP was satisfactory this time.

Now going to start dinner preparations and assess time remaining for garden!  Charity enveloping can wait till after dark!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Afternoon All:  Busy morning, so no time even to check on the nest   : - (  , then when I tried to get on the site at about 3.00pm, the whole thing just wouldnt load.  Maybe problems with the server?

Alicat:    Glad to hear you are recovering now. Do be kind to yourself.

OG:    I'm still laughing at the thought of the 'dead people's vote.."   what an idea.   I disapprove of voting by post except for the disabled and very elderly, there seem to have been a lot of irregularities with it in the last 2 elections.

AQ:  What a fun evening you had.  Thanks for describing your menu, it sounded lovely.

Djoan:   You mentioned the blackbird's lovely song - what a treat it is to listen in the early evening, to his wonderful joyous warbling.  One of my favourite sounds in the whole world.

Went on a shopping mission this morning amongst other tasks - came back without the 2 most pressing items, but had several things in my bag which seemed a good idea at the time.  Left the deep freezer in the garage defrosting itself while I was gone - now there is a huge puddle on the floor, which I have trodden into the kitchen & have had to mop up (good job it was I who did it as there would have been h**l to pay if OH had done same!!)  Will wipe out freezer and restock later, when all the floors have dried <sigh>

  • Alan:  Thanks for clip of the wonderful White Tailed Eagle & her chicks - how gentle that huge bird is, tending her little ones.

  • AQ - Great sounding menu!

    Annette - Are you OK?

I tried to send this hours ago before making a hospital visit to elderly neighbour. Like the rest of you, just couldn't get on to the site.
