Weekly Chat, Sunday April 25, 2010

Hi all: Getting a late start here today. Been busy in the garden all day and now working on getting some of the glue out of the corners of the panes in the French door, so have back to computer.

Previous Weekly Chat's last page included long chatty posts from Lindybird and OG, a link from Djoan to the BOT Barn Owls, which have their first egg, and a colorful greeting from Diane to AQ who's having a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AQ!  :-)

  • CAERANN:   Wonderful news from you - Congratulations !!!    (I'm so excited for you that I just typed 'congralutations' & had to go back and change it!)  Hope you enjoy the new job and that it is all you hoped for.

Tiger:   Thanks for link, I saw a bit about the cranes on BBC News but missed the beginning.  How wonderful would it be to see those elegant birds flying over British skies. Let's hope the project has great success.

Sue C:    The Chicester Peregrines seem to do well.  It is good that it has captured people's imaginations to see something so 'wild' amongst their daily lives. Expect they will be on the TV news again soon.

A bit dull here but warm weather predicted later.  I'm off to walk into the town, and on the way to digest the news from Eldest Son that 'the girlfriend I didn't tell you about is staying for the weekend!!....."

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Aww Caerann, how wonderful news! I am soooo haaapppyyyy for you :) Hugs and kisses

  • Hi auntie;   Is it getting warmer over your way?  Your snowy winter was amazing. don't think we would cope very well here if we had same- everything would grind to a halt.

  • Hi Lindybird, yes spring is here too. Almost all the snow in this part of country has vanished and daytime temps are at the moment up to 10C, nights every now and then still sub zero few degrees. I just love spring! Only problem is that now there is three osprey nests that I try follow (two here and LG) and still one should have some social life as well LOL or should one? And work too, well no rest for wicked, eh?

  • Good morning auntie and as you know osprey watching is a full time occupation.  I am retired so have the luxury of being able to watch for many hours in a day.  One does need a social life but mine will have to wait until the ospreys leave us but let's not talk about them leaving just yet.  Next step is hatching and will be glued to the screen even more than.

Glad Spring is arriving for you but 10C is still quite chilly but I don't think it is much warmer at LG at the moment with the promise of rain.

    Have a good day.

  • Thanks Sue C my word that seemed to happen quickly.  Was so glad that they got the live streaming cam up again this year.

  • Good morning Tiger watched the news this morning about the cranes.  Wonderful news and Somerset Levels not that far from me so hopefully it will be successful and I will be able to get down to the Somerset Levels which are not all that far away.

  • Good Caerann I am so pleased for you.  It must be a great relief.  My OH was made redundant in March of last year but got another position after just 3 weeks.  He hated being unemployed.  Good luck  and hope all goes well for you now.

  • Morning all ... overcast here today but warm.

Caerann - many congratulations on the new job!

Margobird - a trip to Venice ... lucky you! I was there on a day trip a few years ago ... it is a beautiful city. May is a good time to visit ... I was there in mid August and the heat was terribly opressive!

Lindybird - the unknown girlfriend ... sounds interesting :))

Thanks to everyone for links, chat etc

    Take care!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Good morning DjoanS I am really looking forward to it now.  Going for  5 days but I suspect it wil not be enough as there is so much to see.  We have chosen May because it will not be too hot and also I am very prone to skin cancers on my face.  Have to go to the hospital and see about one this afternoon.  Have had about 7 removed from my forehead now.  I have  never sat in the sun and burned myself so goodness knows why they just keep coming.  Not a lot of space on forehead now for many more and at least I don't have wrinkles as they have to cut away more than can be seen, I jokingly say I am getting a free facelift.

    Have a good day.
