HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here. Check back, because there were a lot of new, long posts at the end of the thread.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
Good afternoon everyone.
Lindy, I chuckled when I read you check out the columns in the local newspaper, hatches and despatches, its the first page that I read. Oh dear not sure if that's good or bad.
Margo, sounds like your having wonderful care, wishes sent to you and your OH.
Brenda. I agree with Heather, flowers/chocolates are always a lovely choice.
I hope Ruby is coping with the 'lampshade' I dread it when Indie goes for her procedure, I think we are hoping it may quieten her down.
Although the weather in parts was quite lousy, the day so far has been good, lovely patients all progressing well.
Observed 4 Red Kites on my travels, which is always a treat, a female Kestrel dropped down right in front of me to pick up a large worm off the road.
Other than that, my OH has been finishing off the kitchen, now just waiting for the delivery of the splashback to fit behind the cooker, then we can move on to another room (his words)
My evening will be a quite one, one more day at work, then Friday off in lieu for working Easter Monday :-)
anyway OH is looking at me which suggests he's peckish, so I need to think about dinner.
Take care all.
Hello all. Been in London all day for our visit to the theatre to see The Lion King again. This was a Mothers' Day treat from the "kids". Show was fantastic and had a nice lunch at Garfunkel's on The Strand.
Brenda - hope your neighbour and friend make good recoveries. Glad your OH got his bowls in. Oh dear that incident with the neighbour and dog poo, I'm sure you'll get it sorted.
Never mind the dog poo we are having a problem with one of our cats at present. As soon as the cat litter tray seems to be full she has started going on the carpet in a corner of the lounge. Not on - I will have to keep a more watchful eye and also remember to change the tray every day so that it doesn't happen.
Margo - how lovely to hear from you however briefly. It seems that they are on the ball with your treatment and hopefully with the 3 wk. transfusions things may settle down more. Glad your OH is feeling a lot better. Take care and God Bless.

Evening all: Another busy day and carpet cleaner coming tomorrow, but things should slow down a bit after that. I think. I hope.
Margo: Always a treat to see you. Do hope you'll be feeling up to watching the nests before long - and don't worry about keeping up with all our natterings.
Lindybird: Well there's nothing like seeing yourself on television to make you realize how quickly time is passing! Eeek. (As Heather says, Tempus fugit...!") I never take my OH food shopping, though he does go by himself when the list doesn't require items that need a lot of scrutinizing and squeezing.
Heather: I also had a laugh at Hatched, Matched and Dispatched. I don't follow any of them, especially the latter where so many are younger than I. :-)
Brenda: Hmm sounds like someone might have nicked the duct near the gall bladder - or something like that - and maybe bile has been leaking into the intestine (that happened to a friend of mine; she ended up in ICU and took months to get over the problem). Not being flippant here, but hope your bowls' team remains intact. What nice neighbors, but good the pee and the poo costs were fairly divided to everyone's satisfaction..
Tina: Nice to see so many birds on your travels. Did you do a major update on your kitchen? Which room is your OH planning on sorting out next?
Lynette: I remember you got The Lion King as a treat; sounds like a nice day out. We don't have a litter box for our cat - she's always regarded the garden as her private toilet, but when she developed diabetes (an apparent side effect of a bad dental problem), she started weeing in the house. Also not on, but now her diabetes is sorted, that has stopped.
Have a good Thursday guys!
Good Morning Everyone. A sunny morning, but cloud seems to be moving in now. I had a call from neighbour last night. She was stuck in a traffic queue, road accident, so would I let her dog out in the garden, so I guess she was not worried about the carpet LOL The poor dog was desperate to go out.Three lady friends went to the ballet last night and on returning to their car, about to drive away, a man's face appeared at the rear window. The driver locked the car doors, so the man then tried the front passenger window. she lowered the window slightly to see if he had a problem and he then started saying things of a very sexual nature. They drove off home and an ex policeman, OH of one of the friends ,rang the police. The police caught an East European man and the ladies have to go and give a statement this morning and ID him. Not sure they will want to go to a theatre evening performance again, without their husbands.
Good Morning, a bit later than usual, from me - got up quite early but seem to have launched straight into Things That Need Doing. Man is here just now to look at the c.h. boiler, which is taking longer to fire up than usual. My OH is hoping that it just needs a service, rather than money spending! I think it might really need replacing....watch this space!
Been out on errands since the above. Plumber cheered up my OH by saying that the boiler will go on for a couple of years now, with the addition of a small replacement part. I think he was surprised that it had gone on for so long without being serviced - it must be several years! He's coming back tomorrow with the part, so all should be well. Perhaps I can lobby for new window blinds in our bedroom now!
Dull skies here and the garden birds are very active, arguing over mating rights and chasing one another around the trees. I'm trying to put stuff away and get back to normal after our several trips away from home. The laundry isn't helping, as the weather means it's been impossible to hang anything out - however I've got a nice pile of ironing waiting now :-)
Hello all
A rainy day here but who knows what will happen later today, the sky is brightening.
The most exciting thing today, so far, is that the postman delivered next door's post to us, three letters, all clearly giving the correct house number. I caught up with him and said that I hoped he hadn't carried on with that pattern all down the road. He didn't appreciate my humour....
Hope that your boiler is fixed, LINDY. Our OHs must be related. I've said on here, before, that everything here must have at least three attempts at resuscitation before I can get a replacement.
TINA - New kitchen?!! Stepdaughter in law is taking me to Howdens Joinery next week, to see what they have. (Joiner recommended)
LYNETTE - Happy that you enjoyed the Lion King. Pity about the cat, though. The older I get, the more I hate smells and mess:-(
ANNETTE - I was still half asleep when I read this page early today. I thought you had said that the 'Duck' must have been injured thus causing BRENDA'S friend to have complications from gall bladder surgery. My sleepy brain was trying to remember if he had eaten duck, when suddenly, all became clear! or rather, my eyesight became clearer as the caffeine hit the spot.
BRENDA - So glad to read that you and OH have reached an understanding regarding the dog poo! The stranger at the car window must have been very frightening for your friends. Quick thinking to put locking on.
MARGO - It was good to see you here, yesterday. As you say, a pattern has emerged and getting three weekly transfusions will undoubtedly be better for you. I hope that the cough and congestion will clear up, soon.
OH won at the bowls this morning so is in good humour. Now must think about what I might ask for, before said good mood drains away! Youngest SiL has arrived home, he manage to fix the faulty equipment and all tests passed. Let us hope that his firm remember that, when deciding on the redundancies.
Just saw your post, LINDY. Great, no new boiler and maybe new blinds! What could be better?
Brenda - sorry you've had bad news about several friends lately: it often seems to be the way, that you hear about two or three at once.
Shocking story about the trip to the ballet, how scary for them. We do all have to be careful when out these days.
Heather - Enjoy choosing and planning that kitchen! My OH has to be given time to come to terms with spending on anything. I've got used to it! He's a very kind person, and well liked by friends and family alike. But his sister pokes him in the ribs and says "You can't take it with you!!"
